my yellow squash is really growing this year....

I don't think last year ever got this big...

 my first tomato is getting bigger...

we are getting more blooms every day....

 Hotrod is always working on his car....

a boys work is never done....

 the sun was out ...it was a beautiful day here in Texas...

we started off cool....but warmed up quickly...

but not unbearable....

 the seeds that Hotrod and I planted are really growing...

on the left are Sunflowers...on the right are Zinnias...

Hotrod likes to measure them every day.....

 



 I've been in a funk lately....

do you ever have that happen....

where you just don't feel like yourself....

last week it happened to me....

I was having sinus issues....I just didn't feel up to par...

but it was more than that....

when I looked in the mirror....

I saw a tired old lady.....so I avoided the mirror...

then no matter what clothes I put on...

they didn't feel right...to tight...itchy...

to loose in one spot....the color felt yucky....

I was hot...I was cold....I was sneezing...

I was stopped up....I was weepy...I was ...

just not me.....no matter how hard I tried....
 

it wasn't an all day thing....it just kept creeping in on me....

I would try to distract myself....

back it would come....

Saturday morning I got up...started doing chores...

I was feeling a bit over whelmed by them all...

seems like I was behind on everything....

Hubby came in from working....said let's go to lunch....

a break would do me good...

so I had to get cleaned up...put on real clothes...

not work around the house clothes...

I got dressed....washed my face...brushed my hair...and teeth...

put on mascara....(hadn't had any on all week cause of the sneezing)

Hubby said...You sure look nice....

well let me tell you....that just made my day....

that one little sentence and a hug...

chased away the yuckies...

 



isn't it funny how we can get so down on ourselves...

and a look....a sentence...a hug from someone...

can just turn it all around....

a laugh from a little one....

or a big slobbery kiss from your fur babies...

can make all the difference in the world....



my thoughts and prayers go out to the folks in Oklahoma...

what a terrible thing to go through...

we are under warnings today here in Texas...

the schools have released early....so kids can get home...

so families can be together...

after the storms that have hit recently...

I think folks are taking warnings a bit more serious...

I'm disappointed I had to stop my squat challenge at 140 squats...

I pulled something in my hip stepping out of my truck...

it is better now...so I'm going to restart the challenge...

on June 1st....that is another reason I was in a funk...



we have a busy month and a half coming up...

Son and DIL closing on their house this week...

they will paint this weekend...then move the next...

I'm going to miss a family reunion I was looking forward to...

but...my kiddos come first....

the following week we have graduations to go to....

June we have my nieces wedding which is out of town...

Hotrod has his first dance recital....this will be my daughters

21st recital....Hotrod turns 3 in June....

lots of activities coming up....

The rain has started....looking dark outside...

winds up to 60 miles an hour headed our way...

have the TV on for up dates...

 I haven't flown the coop....

it was a busy weekend....

lot's of chores to do....

my sinus' have been bad...

have been battling a headache and earache...

 

 no fishing this weekend....

helped daughter move some big things...

she is almost moved out of her first apartment...

Hatari is trying to get used to the move...

she has more friends now....

a big Boxer and 3 cats....

 I just noticed on the calendar today....

next Monday is Memorial Day....

I thought it was another week away....

where has this month gone to????

It has heated up here in Texas...

which means we are super busy...

(which I am very thankful for)

Hotrod got his summer buzz hair cut...

makes him look too grown up...

 1.  My best girl friend that I have known since the 8th grade..
is in Italy right now....her husband is in the military....
had to go there for military stuff....
well she got the opportunity to travel with another
military wife....she told me she wished I could have
gone to be her personal photographer...now wouldn't
that have been fun....she also told me she had packed too
light....she had 5 oz left when they weighed her bag...
darn she could have got one more pair of shoes in there....

2.  My Hotrod loves to paint....he decided he wanted to do a
little body art....of course Oma had to get photos of it...
needless to say a bath was required when he was finished...

3.  We forgot to put the lid on our sand this week...

before the big rain storm...so it was full of rain...

we dumped out the water...I put the container on it's

side to drain more...Hotrod decided the sand needed

to be played with....and boy did he...

 

 4.  I found out this week a young man my son went to school with...had been arrested...he was a teacher at a school...also
a head coach of one of the teams....seems he had relations with
a student...a 17 year old student....now he has wrecked his life...
he has wrecked his wife's life and his two small children's lives...
someone made a comment to me....well the girl was 17...
she should have known better....well I kept my mouth shut...
but I sure wanted to let that person have it....
first of all he is an authority figure....he is an adult...
he is a married man....enough said...
my prayers go out to all involved....

 5.  on a lighter note....my veggie garden is really growing...
the rain storm we had this week didn't damage anything...
all the plants sure did love their nice soak....

where has this week gone???

it has just flew by....

 we had horrible storms here in Texas yesterday...

We are saying prayers for the folks in Granbury...and Cleburne...

a lot of homes were completely destroyed by Tornadoes...

there were places that got grapefruit sized hail...

we were fortunate...only to get high winds...and rain...

my garden and lawn are saying a big thank you for the rain...

we have friends in Granbury...they were spared...

 

 It is that time of year...we all have to take heed...

when the warnings are put out....listen....

believe it or not we have not been fishing this week...

it has been a busy week at work...

by the time we get off and Hotrod goes home...

Oma and Pawpaw are pooped....

 

hopefully next week we will get back on track....

Hotrod and I have been having fun with our art this week....

we have made puffy paint...it is simple to make...

and a lot of fun for both of us...

Hard to believe it is Wednesday already....

I decided to join in on Wordless Wednesday...

on my Photos Only No Words blog...

I mean what a better thing to join...

since all I publish is photos....no Words....

I joined in on four different ones...

thought this is going to be fun....

well guess what....I haven't found one yet...

that was wordless....

off the soap box now.....

one month from today....

my oldest niece is getting married....

I just can't believe it...seems like yesterday she was 2...

now she's 21 and about to be a married lady....

of course I was married at 20....

but I felt so much older then...lol...

 we decided to have a smallest fish contest...

I'm thinking Hubby one this one....

it's about the size of a guppy....

 Isn't this a pretty little catfish...

it made noises at me when I caught it...

 

 this is the second catfish I caught...

 Hubby used one the perch for a bait fish...

to try to catch a much bigger fish...

well a turtle got a hold of it....

 My Mom caught this crawdad on a worm...in the pond...

 Hubby decided to use it as bait...

he is always looking for that BIGGER fish....

 

 the turtles even went after the crawdads...

the turtles were on a eating frenzy...

with tackle and a pocket knife inside...

I'm all set now....

 It was a great weekend....

the weather was good....

the company was good...

 Saturday morning Hubby and I got to the lake early...

we found a good spot....unloaded...set up...

unloaded the boat...put it in the water...

it was a little windy...but not too bad....

 went out in the boat...

we fished...tried several spots...not biting...

my Mom called to say she was headed our way...

we started heading back to our spot...

troll fishing as we went...Hubby caught a Crappie...

we thought we would turn around and do the run...

one more time...about that time...

the wind started blowing...I felt like I was in the ocean...

we headed in...by the time we got to shore...

the wind had doubled....

it was too windy to even fish on the shore....

so we packed everything back up...

boat included...which had to be carried up a steep hill...

then put into the back of the truck...

we decided to find another spot for our day...

we headed to the perch pond...ran into Mom on the way....

we found a picnic table...a good fishing spot...

we caught fish after fish...nothing really big...

I caught 3 catfish....

Mom caught a crawdad...Hubby caught 3 of them...

in the pond on worms...didn't know you could do that...

 

 It was an awesome day....

Sunday we got up bright and early.....headed to the lake...

this time Rooster got to come with us....

we found a good spot...Our daughter showed up first...

she brought Hatari with her...

 

 it wasn't windy....yeah...we were so happy....

we had a nice day....Hotrod had a blast...

he loved the water...it sure was cold....

but it didn't stop him at all...

I was the fishing Queen...I caught 4 fish...

no one else caught any....

 

Hatari found this snake...

a cotton mouth...very poisonous...

it was in some tall weeds by these rocks...

she was sniffing...I went over and looked...

didn't see anything...my daughter looked...

she saw the tail...Hubby got a stick...pulled it out...

that is when we found out what it was...

Hatari...my daughter and Me were very lucky...

the snake had already eaten something and it was still

trying to digest...or we could have been bitten...

Thank goodness all this happened before Hotrod came...

Hubby through it into the lake and it finally swam off...

besides that we had a great day....

Next post I will show you the Mother's Day gift from my daughter...
