 where did September go?
tomorrow is the last day...
just seems like yesterday...
Linda from Linda's Life Journal was declaring Fall...
I bought 2 pumpkins...
one white one for my front porch...
one pie pumpkin...
going to try my hand at Paleo Pumpkin bread...

I'm still eating the Paleo way...
I've made more changes also...
I have given up processed food...
95% of the time...
there are a few times I have it...
and I don't like the way it makes me feel...
It's fresh veggies...fruit...organic whenever possible...
Meat with out hormones or additives.....
minimal processed...

 Hubby is even enjoying it...
well 50% of the time...
he still does the other foods..
but at dinner or on weekends...
he eats my way...even likes it now...
he is eating more fruits and veggies than he has in years...

 My Mom has joined also...
her acid reflex is under control...
her blood pressure is great...
she went off her blood pressure medicine...
her aches and pains are better...
she has lost some weight...
we have fun shopping together...
looking for the best deals...
finding the most for our dollars...
eating healthy seems expensive at first...
but after you do it a while you find ways to do it...
and stick to a good budget...

we have even learned how to be away from home...
and stick to our plan...
it just takes a little planning...
I've cooked more in the last 6 months than I have in years...
but I enjoy it now...and look forward to meals...
it used to be...What do you want for dinner?
I don't know what do you want?
Do you want to cook? No...do you? No...
let's just pick something up...
Now I have things ready...
Dinner can usually be ready in less that an hour...
and it is healthy...yummy...
and I feel satisfied when I am done...
I don't feel bloated...full...or miserable...
well that's my story...

A day in the life of a 4 year old boy...

 $15 investment....
a pile of sand....
hours of enjoyment...
priceless....

everyone likes to get in on the action....
Pawpaw showing Stringbean how to make a tunnel....

there is so much to do with sand....
build with it....
 climb on it...
 play king of the mound....
after sand time...
comes playing in the pool...
to get rid of all the sand....
then it's time for a picnic lunch....
a few more minutes of playing...
NAP time...
I sure wish someone told me I had to take a nap...

My Zinnias are beautiful this year...
I love Zinnias...

we had an odd Summer here in Texas...
we had a lot of cool days...
which is very unusual...
but of course we had our 100 degree days too...

 the butterflies came late...
but they have been beautiful....
I have had tons of them...
bees...grasshoppers...locusts too...
lizards have been in abundance too...
which has made String bean very happy...
I just realized I haven't seen one frog or toad though...

it has also been a very dry summer...
we are still well below what we need...
Fall Started...with some cooler temps...
but they say next week back up to the 90's...
One of our neighbors passed away on Saturday...
he mowed his front and back yard...
drove himself to the hospital...
collapsed...and never recovered...
a massive heart attack...
he was 60 years old...
you just don't know...
If someone is on your mind...
you should call them...go see them...
there is usually a reason....

 Stringbean is in karate now...
this was his first tournament....

at the end they got to kick their teacher over...
she is a 7th grade teacher...
and full of energy...

 welcome to Doggie/Stringbean school...
they all have a blast together...
keeps this Oma on her toes for sure...

there is always time for a little hug or cuddle....

one of my Fun Girl friends is making wings...
and selling them...
her son does the art work...
I did a little photo shoot for her to use on her sites...
of course I had to use my sweet adopted Granddaughter...
she is a little Angel after all...

and the cutest dragon you will ever meet...
I even got her little brother in on the action...
even butterflies wear cowboy boots in Texas...

If you are interested in the wings...
I can get you more information....

 It was a busy weekend...
we had our Annual Main Street Festival...
Friday night was concert night...
they also had a kid section open...
Hubby and I went...
the bands were good...
the second band played all Motown Music...
(the stuff I grew up on)

My daughters dancers performed on Saturday...
it was very HOT...
but they did a awesome job...
it is fun watching a new generation of dancers...

I'm so proud of the dedication my Daughter has...
it shows in the girls she teaches...

I like that I get the best of both worlds...
The boy world with Stringbean...
and the girl world with these cuties...
maybe some day I will have a grand daughter too...

for now....I have adopted these girls...
Happy First day of Fall...
let the Festivals begin...
I do look forward to all the Festivals...
My Fun Girls Group has a trip on Saturday...
can't wait to get together with everyone...
August was just too busy and too HOT for everyone...

For the Guys...

This post is for my guys...
my Uncle Tom..my Dad...my Stringbean....
Sunday we went to the Fall Nationals in Ennis Texas...

the weather was not exactly Fall...
95 degrees...well it is Texas...
Elvis was even there....
It was a fun day...
loud with the smell of fuel...
but I loved every minute of it...
Ear plugs were used all day....

I just had to like this guy...
with his Gold suit...

there is just something about the roar of an engine...
I remember this from my childhood....
I didn't enjoy it as a child...
my Mom even raced...
she had a chance to drive for Connie Kalitta...
but my Step Dad wouldn't let her do it...

they have a kids division...
as young as 6 years old...
they were driving 70-80 miles an hour...
I told Hubby don't get any ideas...
I don't want Stringbean going that fast too soon...

Saturday Mom and I went to a car show....
oh I love the Oldies...

my kind of truck...
even has a wooden bottom in the bed...

Mom said my Uncle Gene had a car like this...
but not yellow or shiney...

I remember these...
we didn't think of them as Muscle cars in the day...

This is my Mom's neighbor's car...
I remember when he bought it brand new when I was a kid...
he spent 4 years restoring it...

So Guys that I love...
here is your post...
hope you enjoyed it...
I sure enjoyed taking the photos...

A nice Summer....

 Meet Athena...
the newest member of the family...
She is Stringbean's new pup....

 This is Buster....
my new furbaby....
He has grown so much in a couple of months...

 This is Duke....
he is a sweetie pie...
well we don't know if he is a he or a she yet...
keeping fingers crossed he is...

Summer is coming to an end...
as most people know...
I hang on to summer until the very end...
I don't declare Fall until Halloween...
which in Texas...is usually when we see Fall...
I have enjoyed my blog break...
I am now friends on FB with several of my blog pals...
so have been able to keep up...
we have had a busy...fun Summer...

I've been blogging since 2008...
I have met some really nice folks....
most of you I have never met in person...
but feel like I know you from your wonderful blogs...
and your sweet comments...
I even have a real life friend in Linda...from
Linda's Life Journal...
come to find out she lives in my town...
now she is part of our "Fun Girl" group....
blogging has been a struggle for me for the last 6 months...
to much to do...to little time to do it...
so I have decided to take a blogging break...
if you are interested in being friends on Facebook...
send me an email...
I want to stay in touch....
I'm not saying I will close down for good...
but for now...it's the best choice for me...

 old pals...
former "River Rats"...
they grew up in the same neighbor hood...
so nice to have old friends around.....

 Hubby taking a turn.....
(I stay on the bank)....

my avocado...I started it from a seed...
I don't know if it will ever grow any avocados...
but it is growing...so I am happy...

 we have watermelons...
lots of baby melons...
some are on the fence...
Hubby is building little cradles for them...
out of old t-shirts....

a little visitor...taking advantage of all the May flies...
smart bird...

it was fun watching everyone take a turn on the jet skis...
I think the adults were just as excited as the kiddos...
the men even more so...
of course they are all just kids at heart...
back to work Monday...
ugggg....
so enjoyed the weekend....
but back to nose to the grind stone...
until I can sneak off to the lake again...
