Happy Hearts day everyone...

I don't get into the big commercial end of Valentines day...

but I do enjoy letting everyone how much I love them...

how much I love having them in my life...

that includes my blog pals...

I really appreciate having you in my life..

we may never meet...or speak on the phone...

but you are all in my heart...

I enjoy hearing about your lifes...

seeing your photos...

learning more about you with each post...

I enjoy sharing my life with you...

the good...the bad...and the ugly...

well maybe not the ugly...

some things are best left out...LOL...

(you know dirty foors, dusty furniture, house that need painting etc...)

I'm enjoying all the texts...facebook posts and emails...

wishing me a Happy Hearts day...

even though I love cards and mail...

I love that each one of them took time out...

to wish me a good day...

way better than an over priced store bought card...

my hubby gave me my favorite gift this morning...

a hug...a kiss (not the chocolate type) and I love you...

best present ever...

I'm not into candy....I'm not into over priced flowers...

I'm not into fancy dinners...

we are cooking hamburgers on the grill...

nothing says love like a big old hamburger...

we've had winter in Texas this weekend...

even had a little sleet last night...

warmer weather is headed back...

It was dreary...rainy and cold today...

Sunday hubby and I went to a park near by...

took Rooster on a little adventure...

it was cold...my fingers were numb...but

didn't stop me from snapping up a storm...

we are having a family game night this weekend...

I'm excited...Sunday is our 29th wedding anniversary...

my cameras one year birthday....

Saturday hubby and I are doing a one mile fun walk...

maybe next year we can do the 5k....

Today I'm joining Black and White Weekend

it is amazing how a photo changes...

when you take out all the color...

I love looking at black and white photos...

especially old family photos....

I remember being so excited as a kid with color photos...

and when we got our first colored tv...

now I get just as excited for black and white..

no big plans for the weekend...

it is going to be cold...

guess the ground hog was right...

I am dreaming of sun on my face...

walking around barefoot...

digging in the dirt...

Friday already....another fast week....

we had a little rain over night....going to be cold this weekend...

I guess that is why this little one was so busy this week...

getting snacks ready to stay inside this weekend...

A few more things about me...

My favorite car I've ever had was a baby blue Cutless Supreme...

to me a car is a form of transportation...

I've only owned one brand new vehicle a Ford F150...

I now drive a Ford F350....yep it's a big truck...

I drove a small Honda civic for a little while...

I felt like I was driving a pedal car...

it was great on gas though...

Most of my clothes come from a thrift store...

I'm not a fashion plate...

jeans...boots....jackets are my favorite...

comfort is key...

I love costume jewelry..

but I hardly ever wear it...

I love shoes...but I would rather go barefoot..

I don't like fake nails...I tried them...

it drove me crazy....

I never paint my fingernails...

love to paint my toenails...

love love love sandals...

love summer dresses...so comfy...

my purse comes from the Thrift store...

no designer purses here...

I like a medium size purse...

can't carry one of those big ones...

I look like a little kid carry my Mommies purse...

I don't expect my hubby to send me anything for Valentines day...

I'm not into chocolate...I stay away from cakes...cookies etc...

we usually just go out for dinner....

or he will cook for us...he's the cook in the family...

I love bowls...dishes....

but won't pay retail...love looking for them at bargains...

so that is a little more about me....

maybe a little more than you wanted to know...

I have noticed I have a lot of new visitors to my blog...

still have some that have been with me for quite a while...

so today I thought I would give a brief (well I'll try)over view...

of Ladybug from Texas...

I started my blog at the end of 2008...

at first is was non public....just for my family...

well really just my Mom looked at it...

My Mom loves to write...she has actually written a book...

hoping to publish someday...

I looked into Blogging for her...

a way for her to write...

I thought it would be fun...

so I started a blog...

I named it Ladybug after my Nana...

and of course I'm from Texas...

I've always loved to take photos...so it was a win win for me...

It was all confusing at first...but little by little I figured it out...
My Mom started a blog also....she had to give hers up...

she was having problems with carpal tunnel...

she had surgery...but her computer time is limited...

I stuck with mine....it has changed a lot over time...

at first is was recipes...crafts...gardening....

I removed all of my first posts...

trying to get photo storage space...

finally just bit the bullet and purchased storage space...

then my son got married...

I became an Oma...

it has moved more towards my day to day life...

my photography...

A year ago my hubby bought me a Cannon Rebel T2i...

my world changed for ever....

my followers and visitors have changed a lot too...

the blogs I follow have changed too...

Hubby and I have a family business...

my son works for us full time...my daughter part time...

little britches and Ginger (the grand dog) come full time...

I spend my days singing....dancing...chasing...

answering phones...doing paperwork...

scheduling calls...researching...

reading books...crawling on the floor...

of course photography is always involved...

at the end of the day I'm one tired Oma...

when everyone goes home for the day...

hubby and I regroup....

when the weather is nice we like to fish...

go riding on his motorcycle...

spend time outdoors...

I'm looking forward to spring...

this year little britches will be able to go on some of our adventures..

love taking day trips...soaking up the culture...

taking tons of photos...

I will be 50 in March...

will be married 29 years this month...

I'm not tall...surprised huh? 4 ft 11...well almost...

too close to call really...so I stick with it...

I met my hubby after high school...

even though we went to school together...

knew all the same people...I had my brother in law in a class...

My hubby is 6 ft tall...his dad was 6 ft4...

so my hubby thinks he's not tall...

his Mom was 4 ft 11 also...

I started a shop on Cafe Press recently..

I've made 3 sales...one from my Mom...

one from my Ex Sister in Law...

and one from a great blog pal....

so that's me in a nut shell...

Mardi Gras party

Today I'm joining This or That Thursday....

We had a Mardi Gras party for my daughters birthday....

she called around looking for a Kings cake...

no one had them...

I decided to go to Kroger to see what festive cakes they had...

I was looking...looking..nothing looked like what I wanted...

one of the employees asked if they could help me...

I told her I was looking for something that looked Mardi Gras...

she said follow me....

she had baked Kings cakes that morning....

Woo hoo....

we found most of the decorations at Dollar Tree...

I love that store....

the cookies were free at Braums with purchases we made...

I love all the beads...colors...shininess....

the masks....happy faces....

my daughter made hurricane punch....

an adult only punch....

hubby made a seafood gumbo...

I made pinto beans with rice and turkey meat...

all the decorations are now packed away...

saved for the next Mardi Gras celebration...

everyone enjoyed themselves....

it was a good night...

there's no sunshine today....

we were spoiled last week...

so I thought I would start my post off with this sunrise...

we have had a busy week so far....

we've been to story time twice this week...

we found the one we really like...

it is geared for little britches age group...

and what a group there was...

at least 30 children of various ages...

baby to 4 year olds...

lots of singing and moving....

just what he loves...

we have found some interesting books and music also...

his Mommy has taught him this song...

so the book is a big hit...

This book has words like:

WOO WOO WOO

SLOOOOOOSH

CHUK CHUK CHUK....

a real pleaser for a little boy...

I also found a cool cd...The Monkees..

a new generation of Monkee lovers...

The theme of the second story time was Dinosaurs...

boy did the kiddos get into that...

especially the boys...

at the first story time when little britches saw

the librarian coming through...he starting pointing...

saying Library...Library...

I told him she is the Librarian...

the next story time he say the Librarian coming through...

he started pointing...

saying Library-un...Library-un....

he really impressed all the other Mommies and Grandmas...

my son and daughter loved the Library and story time...

I think little britches will too...

My Aunt is turning 80

My Aunt Wanda...

the oldest of 10 children...

turns 80 today....

When I was a little girl I would spent 2 or 3 weeks in the summer at my Aunt Wanda's house. We did many things like go swimming or for ice cream but, the one thing I remember the most is the time we went to a donkey ballgame. If you don't know what this is it is a baseball game where the players all are on a donkey and you had to get the donkey to go the bases when you hit the ball. You have to know this was out of control funny I never laughed so hard I my life. It was more fun than you can imagine. I still think about it now and when. That was good times. Always had fun at Aunt Wanda's house. Happy Birthday Aunt Wanda we love you and have a great day.

Her family calls her Meme...

Meme is one of the most incredible, giving, caring individuals that I have ever known - and I believe the entire family could back that up. She has a wonderful little “place of her own,” and we have the fortune of having her be a more-active part of our immediate family.
I know she wishes she were closer to all of her family - sisters, brothers, Larry, grandkids and great-grands; but it makes Leslie & I very happy to know she is comfortable, happy, and enjoying a good life. She loves our dogs, too; but you wouldn’t expect anything less.
The stories are far too many to even begin, but it is a pleasure and a privilege to have her here, and have her involved with our now-grown kids, especially with the birth of our first grandchild.

She still loves to work, and she loves to stay busy. She stays very busy at church, serving on the flower committee, and volunteering in the church nursery (not surprised, are you?). She loves to do outside work - weeding the flower beds, planting & watering & giving us a “green thumb” look. She still has it!
And as far as that work, well … Meme can work circles around us. She does not seem to have an “off” switch - hoeing, raking, picking up loose limbs, branches, etc. And the flower beds always look so beautiful. It’s hard to believe she’s about to be … well, you know! She is a daily reminder of what family is all about, and we are blessed beyond measure to have her live with us.
Happy Birthday, Meme!

As I reminisce about my sister Wanda, one thing that really stands out strong in my fond memories of her is quilts. Such sweet thoughts of her and my Mom sitting in Mom's sun room talking quietly, making tinny stitches in beautiful quilts. They would stop for lunch, most likely soup and hot tea. It just makes you wonder about the wonderful conversations they had doing their stitching's. Wanda was always so attentive of Mom, which I am so thankful. Another thing that stands out strong is she is such a tidy person, everything has a place and seems as though it stays there. Over the last few years we have had some great conversations, not sure which one of us talks the most. Wanda, thanks for being my sister and the long talks we have. A most Happy Birthday to you. May the peace and joy of life settle on you as you celebrate this day of you birth. Love You much, Judy

We have had unusually warm weather here in Texas...

I got a sad call this afternoon...

a friend of the family passed away last night..

it was a real shock...she lost her husband last year....

my Mom had just spoken with her on Tuesday...

she was upbeat....

she was only 56....

Today I'm joining Friday Fences

These are from the midway at the Fort Worth stock show....

I like watching the action on the midway...

the rides...the people...the food...

I just don't like participating in the midway...

so being on the other side of the fence suites me fine..

this is typical scene when hubby and I go somewhere...

I'm usually lagging behind...

snapping photos...and he is walking ahead...

eventually he realizes I'm not there...

so he stops and waits till I catch up...

he is a good sport...

after all...he's the one that gave me my camera...

almost a year ago...time sure flies...

we will celebrate our 29th anniversary this month...

my daughter will be 23 this month...

next month I turn the big 5....0....

milestones...

my daughter is having a Mardi Gras themed party...

she says I should have a party for my birthday...

I don't think I've had a real birthday party for me...

since I was four years old...

I've planned and given parties for years...

I'm usually the back grounds person...

the one taking photos..

the one setting things up...

the one making sure the foods out...

the tables are set...

the clean up crew...

I don't know if I would know how...

to be the Birthday girl....

maybe I should add that to my 2012 list...

February 2, 1914 an amazing woman was born...

My Nana...my ladybug...

the inspiration for my blog....

she would have been 98 today....

I have so many fond memories of my Nana...

she was a simple...elegant...loving...christian woman...

she married young...had 10 children...

8 survived...she lost her husband when her last child

was a baby....she kept her family together...

moved from the farm to the big city...

she always put her family first...

as kids they probably didn't think so....

she worked long hours...then came home...

put in more time...

she did without to keep her kids fed and clothed...

as adults I think they realized what she really did for them...

My Nana and I had a special connection...

she will always be in my heart...

she quilted...sewed..cooked...baked...

listened..laughed...enjoyed life...

To this day I still remember her smell...

I remember the feel of her hug...

we spent hours on the phone every week...

while I set in carpool line picking up my daughter from school...

I would call her...and we would catch up on what she was up to...

catch her up on what was going on in my life...

she was my ladybug...

my DIL had a ladybug land on her dress the day she

married my son...when I'm feeling tired or low...

a ladybug will pop up...either real or on a product...

I always smile...Nana's there...

watching over us...

I showed little britches her photo one day...

told him that was Nana...

everyday he looks at the photo..

Nana...Nana...

I hope I can be the Oma to him...

that Nana was to me....

I love you Nana...I miss you terribly...

the rick rack was in a box of things I gave her....

I can't wait to see my niece in it....

I told her she should make some to sell...

I'm loving my Mom being retired....

can't wait to hear how the first session went...

Good bye old friend...

it was sad to see you go...

Hubby and I had gone to lunch yesterday...

we were headed back to check to see if it had been picked up...

we passed the new owner on the highway...

it was riding on a trailer...headed to it's new home...

I still don't know why I feel such an attachment to it...

My Monday started out with a bang....

actually bang on the top of the head...

my hubby has a habit of hanging his pants...

shirts on our bedroom door....

this morning I just happened to walk through

the bedroom door as he was pulling down his jeans...

to get his belt....

the buckle hit me in the top of the head...

needless to say it rang my bell....

of course he felt terrible about it...

but sure didn't make it hurt any less...

talk about being in the wrong place...

at the wrong time...

thank goodness the rest of the day went better....

busy...but better....

even managed to walk 2 miles today...

a walking dvd...

the day was so nice....

Little britches and I got to spend some quality time outside...

I ordered a Sweating to the oldies dvd...

I think Little Britches and I will enjoy it....

he likes to help me exercise....

when did it become wrong to be a big business person?

why do some people think they should get a portion

of what the wealthy make?

no where is it written that life is fair...

no where is it written that we should all get

everything equal ...

on Facebook someone went off on Paula Deen...

why your asking.....

because she just came forward that she is diabetic...

she has been for 3 years...

a drug company asked her to be their spokes person...

this person was really upset....

stating that it was not right for her to make money

from the drug company...

not right for her to sell her cookbooks...

not right that she has a show cooking ...

because they are fatty foods...

not right that she waited to come forward..

when it would benefit her money wise...

what happened to free enterprise...

what happened to personal responsiblity...

it is not Paula Deens fault if someone is over weight..

it is not Paula Deens fault if someone becomes diabetic..

moderation is the key...

that is up to the individual..

this person thinks Paula Deen should volunteer

her services to find a cure...

that would be wonderful...but that is up to her...

just because she is wealthy....

Guess who got there first big boy boots.......

he also got another haircut...

he's looking more and more like a boy....

not a baby....

Had a cedar wax wing stop by to visit...

once again not real co-operative....

we are getting geared up for another estate sell this weekend...

we could have sold this oil lamp several times...

except it goes to my SIL...

everyone is so mesmerized by it...

adults and children...

It is from the 70's...(which seems like yesterday)

(not over 40 years ago)

I know my kids both loved this lamp....

they would stand up in a chair and watch it for ever...

I'm going to miss this Bronco....

it belonged to my FIL...then it belonged to us...

then it went back to my FIL...

we don't need another Bronco...neither does my BIL...

so it is up for sale...it is a 1969...

I am so surprised by the questions I get on it...

some people seem to think it should be like a brand new one...

come on folks it is over 40....

things happen with age...

rust...bumps...worn seats...

yep I'm talking about the Bronco...

but the same thing happens to us too...

asking price $3500.00 what do you want people?

it's a fixer upper...it runs...it needs work....

okay I'm better now...

when it leaves....I will be truly sad...

it's funny how somethings can go...

without out a care...

other things...are really hard....

I have good memories of this Bronco...

the crazy feral cats were born in it...

atleast I have my photos of it...

I can look at them and smile...

When I was on my walk I looked up...

so I had to move in for a closer look....

it just sat there and watched me...

didn't seem to mind the camera at all...

Brrrr we are cold here in Texas again...

started out at 60 that was the high at 6 am...

it steadily dropped after that....

but as usual here in Texas...

this shall soon change...

I know I shouldn't complain...

so many of you are truly having winter...

but thats what we do here...complain about the weather...

Watching Sea Biscuit tonight...

I've never seen it before...it's a good movie....

a good spirit lifter...

shows no matter how far down you are...

you can always pull yourself out..

my hubby has a new toy....

you know how it is with ~~boys~~ men and their toys...

he built himself a sling shot...

he also built one for our son...

one for a friend...

even Rooster is enjoying watching his target practice..

we are having some nice weather here in Texas...

my hubby has been using a slingshot since he was 4...

as a kid him and his brother spent most of their free time..

chasing varmits with their slingshots...

I'm sure a few windows...birds...etc..

were in harms way....

even the other brother....

a time or two...

Forty something years later...

he's shooting targets...

pumpkins....cans....etc.....

the varmits around here are safe....

well not from the dogs...but from the males...

when I looked through my camera lense...

I couldn't help to imagine a 5 or 6 year....

instead of a 49 year old....

We still haven't found a home for our stray visitor...

he has moved in full time to my FIL's...

hubby has fixed him a nice little bed...

he keeps guard on the house....

he makes his rounds to the neighbors...

then comes back to the house...

The Ft. Worth Stock show starts this weekend...

I'm hoping to get to go this weekend....

I had a girls night out planned for tonight...

but several of us have had colds this week...

so we are rescheduling for another friday...

I guess it's all the changing back and forth...

cold to warm to cold...

when I started this post tonight...

I was not going to talk about weather...

guess what I ended up doing it anyway....

when all else fails...

I feel like I'm in a blog rut....

Today hubby was looking for keys at FIL's house...

I remembered seeing them last weekend....

I remember them being put in a plastic container...

I was racking my brain...

hubby was searching....searching...

I started tracing back through my memory....

every where I told him to look....

no keys...he was frustrated....

I was frustrated that he didn't remember the day as I did...

he gave up....said he would just replace the ignition...

well his hands were too big to pull the ignition...

we looked all over our house for the key...

no key....

after dinner we went by for me to look....

I checked several places...

in my memory they were in the kitchen on a shelf...

I checked the shelves in that area...

no luck...no key....

had given up....was in the kitchen looking for something else...

walaa...the plastic container full of keys...

on a shelf in the kitchen...

but in a different cabinet....

Hubby was excited....

I was excited...

I wasn't loosing my mind....

walaaa...hubbies memory returned...

he then remembered putting them there...

even though he had sworn all day...

he didn't move any keys...he didn't see any keyes....

It might have been the 13th today...

but is was our lucky day...

of course I feel the 13th to be a lucky day....

my son was born on the 13th...of December...

I'm sitting wrapped in my favorite blanket...

the one my Mom made me for Christmas....

feet propped up on my foot stool...

watching Lincoln Lawyer....

hubby on the couch....snoring off and on...

a nice way to spend a COLD winter night...

something about this cold turns me into a hermit...

I just want to stay inside...warm and toastie..

I would never make it in the north...

good thing I'm a Texas girl....

our weather usually changes pretty quickly...

hopefully will do the same soon...

I got to take little britches to his creative movement class this week...

he was very excited to go...

especially to see his auntie...

we were listening to his Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas CD...

on the way there...

yes we are still listening to christmas music..

when we pulled in I turned off the car....

of course the music shut off..

he was not a happy camper....

Alvin...Alvin...Alvin...

took him into class...he was not wanting to go...

he pitched a little fit....

but I was strong and left him in the capable hands...

of my daughter...he put on a little show...

then settled in....

a little girl came in crying....

hmmm...wonder if she was listening to Alvin too....

he just looked at her like whats wrong with you....

he really enjoyed the class...

he is the youngest in there....

the others are all 2 or 2 1/2....

when class was over he didn't want to leave....

neither did the little girl that was crying...

the marched...touched their toes...

reached for the sky....

did Eensy Weensy spider...

the alphabet...

ran...walked...

so happy I got to peak through the window and watch....

just seems like a few days ago my daughter started there...

that was 21 years ago...

there is a new stray at my FIL's...

just last week he showed up...

he looks to be a yellow lab mix..

he has a bad leg...

looks like he was hit by a car at one time...

he gets around really well....

several of the neighbors said they think its my FIL...

watching over us....make sure we sell his things the right way...

I told them if it was my FIL he would be barking....

bossing us around....even nipping at our heals...

so now not only are 2 cats being fed... but also this guy...

the neighbors are also feeding him...

we are trying to find him a home...

he really likes kids...

does well around other dogs...

chases cats...

my 19 year old niece pulled out all the tricks...

trying to talk her Dad into taking him....

didn't work though....my daughter tried the same thing...

didn't work for her either...

I was so happy to find this jar...

I figured my hubby or BIL had tossed it...

I don't know why I have a facination with it...

but now it's mine all mine...

one man's (or woman's) junk is another man's (or woman's)

treasure...or inventory as my hubby calls his...

we had a rainy day here in Texas...

I'm not complaining...because we really need it....

but it sure can put a damper on things...

so happy it waited till after our estate sale....

one thing about it...the sun will come out again...

I looked out my office window...

just in time to see a little squirrel show...

sure seems like a lot of work for a few berries...

five days into the new year....

things are getting back to normal...

I took little britches to his first story time...

he enjoyed it...but was a little shy....

he started back to his creative movement class with my daughter...

he was in bed by 7:30...

it is fun watching him interact with other kiddos...

he calls them all babies no matter what size they are...

all ladies are mommies...all men are daddies..

he is mainly around adults...

so we are working on getting him with more kiddos...

he has the vocabulary of over a 2 year old...

he keeps us on our toes...

found this little cedar wax wing on my walk the other day..

it was not being real cooperative with the photo shoot...

everytime I thought I got a good shot..

he would move slightly...

he was eating well....really enjoying those berries...

I have really enjoyed the sunny weather we are having...

but it was really cold this morning...in the low 30's...

for Texas...that is cold...remember not long ago...

we were over a 100....big difference...

we are having our first sale this weekend of my FIL's things...

it is a time consuming thing...going through...

deciding what everyone wants to keep...

what is trash...and what should be sold...

I see in the mirror....it's wisdom....

well I'll go with that anyway...

We had a real tradegy on Christmas Day...

in Grapevine...A Man dressed as Santa...

went to his soon to be Ex wifes apartment...

kills her...

their two children...

her sister...brother in law...and niece...

then himself...

My daughter went to school with the niece...

such a horrible loss...

she was 22 in pre-med...

her Mom and Dad were such nice people...

I've had such a heavy heart over this...

they had just opened all their Christmas gifts...

someone from inside called 911...

but didn't say anything...

the police knocked on the door..

when no one answered they went in...

found a horrible tradgedy....

Christmas Day Adventure

On Christmas day we went to see War Horse...

Hubby, my daughter, my Mom and me...

there were 2 showings we were considering...

1:45 or 3:25....

we decided on the 1:45...

around 1:15 hubby was on the phone...

wishing his brother a Merry Christmas...

I was motioning to wrap up...almost time to go..

I decided to check on the times again...

pulled it up....

the times were 1:25 and 3:45...

well we couldn't make it there in 10 minutes...

we didn't want to wait till 3:45...

so we found it showing at another theater...

at 2:10...we loaded up...headed to the theater...

the theater was busy....they were selling tickets inside...

hubby got in line for the tickets...

the girls got in line for the goodies....

we finished about the same time...

headed to the theater...hubby had the tickets...

the ticket taker said to the left...

to the left we went...

War horse...woo hoo...

we went in...the movie had started...

we checked our times...

hmm...wonder why they started early....

the movie was great...

but we felt like we were missing something...

somethings weren't adding up....

about an hour into it...it seemed to be coming to the end...

my daughter pulled out her phone...

checked the times...we had the correct time...

she checked the length of the movie...

she asked her Dad...let me see those ticket stubs...

we had gone in to the wrong theater....

the movie was over...

we decided to walk down to

the theater we were suppose to be in....

it was at a part we hadn't seen...

we watched it until we came to the part we had seen before...

Daughter looked up and found the next showing was 3:45...

in the original theater we had been in....it was 3:45...

so off we went back to the original theater...

watched all the previews....

watched the beginning of the movie...

now it all made since....

so to recap....

we watched the end...

then the middle...

then the beginning...

that was our adventorus movie day...

we returned home and played Marlarky...

we found out my Mom is good at Marlarky...

she is very convincing with her tall tales...

It was a good day....a little out of the ordinary...

but fun....

Christmas Eve was our official Christmas....

it was a fun night...

The babies had so much fun....

we had fun watching them...

the whole opening presents was a little over whelming to them...

they were more interested in the paper and boxes...

I think the wagon from Oma and Paw Paw was a big hit....

my niece liked the musical doggie I got her...

that is one of the toys that always drew her attention...

my brother and sister in law took her toy looking...

to see which toys caught her attention....

Aunt Deb did good...

yep the wagon was a hit....

the pooh bear was for little britches...

from Nanny...his great grandma...

my beautiful Mom...

this is the denim quilt she made little britches...

it was made from FIL's, hubbies and my sons jeans...

he loved it...

my daughter and her handsome fellow...

my niece is behind this ball....

she loved little britches fireman hat...

and the ball she gave him for Christmas...

I think she will be getting one also...

it was an awesome day...

My dad gave me this quilt for Christmas...

it was made by my great grandmother....

Our $15 christmas tree...

with one of the pine cones from our walk...

thought they looked good on my tree...

I just now got the tree decorated tonight...

instead of digging all my lights...ornaments out of storage...

Hubby and I went to Walgreens...

I got a bag of 100 shatter proof ornaments....

for $7.50....now the babies can redecorate..

without breaking anything...

they also had their lights for 1/2 price...

it is a very simple tree this year...

I usually put a ton of ornaments on the tree..

this year going simple....

I saw the coolest idea on pinterest...

turning a ladder into a Christmas tree....

so here is my version...

count down to Christmas...

still have to cook...clean....wrap gifts...

but I'm going to take it as it comes...

enjoy the process....

It is hard to believe it is the first day of winter...

The sun was out today...

My dad is coming up tomorrow...

I didn't get to take my road trip over the weekend...

my daughter is chaperoning a sleepover at the dance studio...

that is one thing I don't really miss...

two of our college girls will be there to surpise the younger girls...

Tonight I had a new experience....

I got to meet a blogging pal face to face...

first time ever...

Linda from Linda's Life Journal invited me to an open house...

at her Home....she lives in the same town as I do...

Let me tell you she is just as sweet in person...

as she is on her blog...and her home is just awesome...

My Mom went with me..I just had a feeling....

that they would hit it off...

they remind me alot of each other....

My Mom will be doing some painting with her

after the holidays...it was so nice meeting Linda...

and the nice ladies at the open house...

I felt right at home as soon as I walked in the door...

We got some sad news today...

My DIL's Grandmother passed away today...

she just found out a couple of weeks ago...

she was stage 4 cancer with 4 to 6 months...

it is always sad to loose a loved one...

but during the holidays makes it even harder....

poor hubby now has the terrible cold....

I told him to get started on the Mucinex DM...

hopefully it will leave quickly....

nice for the earth...not so nice for outdoor activities...

I got my Texas Tree up in the bathroom...

I know what your thinking...

who puts a tree in the bathroom....

well we haven't moved my claws foot tub out there yet...

so there is plenty of room...

and who doesn't have a coyote in their bathroom...

little britches loves the flag scarf...

and he loves pulling the beads and stars off the tree..

doing a little decorating of his own.....

my Mom bought me this egg holder years back...

I thought it would look nice on the Christmas table....

added a few bobbles...

still no tree up in the den.....one day this week...

we are planning on a real tree...so the less time up...

means the less time it has to dry out...

and the less time little britches has to re-decorate it..

turn up the christmas music...

or dance like now one is watching...
feel the joy of the season...
not the stress to be perfect....
no one remembers if your house was spotless...
if your hair was just right...
they remember the laughs...
the games you played...
the silly things the kiddos did....
the warmth and love from your heart...

My hubby has good taste...

he went rug shopping...

bought this one for our den....

and this one for the hallway....

I think he did a great job....

my Mom made this cute little frog for little britches...

she made it out of one of my FIL's old shirts...

something to pass down....

little britches loves the new rugs...

he loves rolling around on them....

this cold is really kicking my butt...

Good morning....a reflection in my window....

well it is official...

I have a Cold....sneezing...coughing...

blowing of the nose cold....

got me some Theraflu...

a box of kleenex...

I rescheduled my road trip...

hopefully a weekend of R&R will kick this cold...

I plan on catching up on my blog reading...

watching Christmas movies...

and of course blowing my nose....

tomorrow is the Christmas Dance show...

Today I'm joining Friday Fences...

these photos were taken a few months ago....

we've been raining off and on here today...

in between rain storms the squirrels were acting NUTS

it was definitely not short sleeved weather today....

it was nippy....wet....and no fun...

I know I shouldn't be whining...

we need the rain desperately...

but it sure does interfere with life...

I got a nice surprise in the mail today...

a card and two wonderful photos from....

Sandra Claus Thank you....you made my day....

I also got an invitation to meet a blogging buddy...

I'm sure hoping I can....

This will be the first time to actually meet a bloggy pal...

I think I'm nipping this crud....

been taking something every four hours...

slept with Vicks vapor rub on my feet..

and chest...something my Nana always did...

it is also great for over tired feet...

give it a try...rub some on your feet...

put on a cozy pair of socks...

we have had a drizzly...dreary day...

misty...messy....

with a few thunderstorms thrown it...

it was short sleeved weather...

I had planned on doing some decorating...

but all my christmas is in my outside storage...

wasn't in the mood to drag it in with all the drizzle...

I woke up with that thick feeling in my throat...

like something is coming on...

so went tonight to get something to hopefully get ahead...

I usually take theraflu...but they were out...

so trying a different route...

hopefully will nip it before it starts...

seems like I'm doing a lot of rambling posts lately...

I guess my brain is in too many places at once...

christmas...work...family...little britches...

you know typical Wife... Mom...Oma type stuff...

being pre-mentaposal...atleast I assume I am..

I am of that age as they say...turning 50 next year...

seems like my brain is a little more scrambled than usual...

looking forward to my road trip this weekend...

maybe it will clear my brain a bit...

Do I have any decorations up?

That would be a big fat no....

Do I have all my business Christmas cards mailed?

Do I have my personal cards mailed out??

yes...

Do I have my Angels finished for the nursing home?

yes....

Do I have my Christmas shopping done??

yes...

I have the menu planned for our Christmas Eve dinner...

Hubby is cooking Chili and hotwater cornbread...

My Mom is doing a chicken stew...

I found the bowls I wanted to make a festive table...

This weekend I'm going to spend the day with my Dad...

The whole family will be going to the annual Christmas

dance show...this year it will be at the country club...

instead of the dance studio...really looking forward to both...

Hubby and I are enjoying the new TV...

boy they have come along way with those big old screens..

when little britches walked in he said WOOWWW....

met his approval...Elmo looks good on that screen...
