Just a swingin'

Remember when rope and a old board

became a swing and all the adventures

you had when you were swinging

hours at a time.....flying through the air

like you were in the circus or you were

a bird soaring through the sky.......

or the anticipation of your turn coming up...

the feeling you would get in the pit of your stomach

as you went back and forth..... and the

giggles you could not control....

It's funny I still get those same feelings

when I get on a swing......I have a swing on my patio

and I love to sit out on it and just leave all my cares behind

my dogs seem to enjoy it also.....

I remember when my children were young

pushing them in the swing.....

listening to them giggle....

there's nothing better.....

then just a swingin'

JD's afternoon walk

Hi, my name is JD and I am a 9 year old blue heeler

I was taking a nap and my Momma said"JD, you want to go for a walk?"

I of course said yes, because I love to go with my Momma

She took me to the Park "Yippee" "Let's go Momma"

I smell all kinds of things here

She decided to go look at this building, she called it
a Gazebo

I think there's something in these bushes

We went done by the play ground, a little boy starts yelling

"WOLF, WOLF", I looked around, no wolf, didn't smell

one either...my Momma laughed.... don't know what was

so funny

Momma decided to go towards the water

I am kinda thirsty from all this walking

We go across a bridge, she takes more pictures

we're on the other side now

More water....

Ducks....I wish I was off this leash....

cause I would be chasing those ducks....

Mom lets me get a drink...

Darn....the ducks flew away....

Maybe next time...

My Momma stops to look at this tree...

I bet there's something good up in there...

We had a nice walk...I like going with my Momma

especially since we didn't have to take Bliss...Nolan.. and Jake

I love my family...I watch out for all of them

When a storm is headed our way I start barking to warn everyone

My Momma calls it sounding the alarm

I take good care of Bliss, groom her everyday and sit on

her in the winter when she is cold...she thinks she is the

boss of me so I let her think so...I love to ride in my Momma's

truck...and go to the bank or go over to Grandpa's house, he let's

me come inside...and his neighbor has chickens so I chase them off.

I put up with Nolan he's a little to loud for me and Jake he seems

like a nice guy...he likes to be loved on like me.....but I don't tell him that

Sad news

I have sad news to share with you...

and it is no April fools joke either....

I dropped my camera today with the lens out ....on concrete....

needless to say I can't take pictures with it....

I'm so sad...I take it every where with me...

thankgoodness I have a lot of photos to post until I get a new camera...

my husband said I could get a better one....

but I will miss my camera (it has been to New York, Wyoming, and even to Costa Rica)....

rest in peace my friend....

I received an e-mail from my Aunt about the history of the apron....

well my sneaky Mom at http://judannascomfortcorner.blogspot.com/

beat me to it...she had a nice post.....which some of you may have seen...

so I waited till now to do my post about Aprons...

The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath

because she only had a few it was easier to wash aprons than dresses

and they used less material

but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.

It was wonderful for drying children's tears

and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.


From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks

and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids

And when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove

Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron

From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables

After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls

In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees

When unexpected company drove up the road

it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds

When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch

waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner

It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that

' old-time apron' that served so many purposes

Send this to those who would know (and love) the story about Grandma's aprons

REMEMBER:

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool

Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw

They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs was on that apron

I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron!

Now doesn't that make you want to get a pattern and make your own apron. My daughter

has an apron Nana made her for Christmas, it was one of the last one's she made,

unfortunately the last aprons she made me and my husband were taken at a fundraiser

I helped out with... I just hope they went to good homes are used for the things listed

above....
