The Auction

my Mom made this cute Apron....
I really wanted it....I started the bidding at $10...
but got out bid quick...

she also made these cute little denim hot pads...
with crocheted dish clothes....
again...out bid...

the pillow (quillow) in the middle was made by Mom...
before the auction she told me...
I really want to keep it in the family...
I opened the bid $20...thought I will get it easy...
well it was a bidding war...
I saw the look in Mom's eyes from across the room...
so I kept bidding....and didn't give up...
guess who now has the quillow...
Yep...I'm a good daughter...

I framed six of my photos...brought 2 of my homemade cleaners..
hubby built two sling shots...
well let me tell you there was a lot of buzz about his sling shots...
the first one sold for $15 to our family friend Donnis...
the second one went for $20...
he also got an order to make 3 more...
my Uncle Tom bought one of my photos...
then my Great Aunt Joan bought the other 5....
my Mom said she told my Uncle Bill I want those photos...
I think they went for $10-$12 each....
made me feel good that someone was interested in them...

now this is where the strong arming come in...
I bid $2.00 on this...before I knew I owned the for $5....
I think he bumped my bid to $5...without any other bids...

he was pointing and nodding...
but I never actually saw anyone on the other side bid...

he modeled this apron made by my Mom...

Mom was warning him about using the proper
terminology for the sling shot...

they were trying to explain to him about homemade cleaners...

This is Aunt Joan...with my photos...
she was so encouraging about my photography...

my cousin Donna was being railroaded by the Uncles too...
they were upping bids when her granddaughter raised her hand...
it made for a lot of laughs and memories...
way better than just passing a hat around...
asking for donations...
some gave more than others...
but I think we all left with smiles on our faces...
I'm looking forward to next year...

thank you Uncle Tom and Uncle Don...
all your years of talking a line of BS...
have paid off...you both have found your calling...
strong armed auctioneers...
Love you both...

Thank you Mom for setting the auction up....
so your brothers can hog the spot light... ;)

Thank you Uncle Gary for being the recording secretary...
and the money man....

Thank you Aunt Dotty for keeping them all in line...
Vernon says thank you for your coconut cake...

next year you need to put this in the auction....
there maybe a really big bidding war....

I don't know where to begin! I love auctions. I work them sometimes for a dear old friend. BUT...what I am really intrigued by is the CAKE! I adore coconut cake! Oh to have a slice with coffee NOW! YUM!

Your mom is talented!
