Watery Wednesday....and random thoughts...

Today I'm joining Watery Wednesday
we've had some high winds lately...
really tossing the leaves around...

cold weather has hit Texas...
not as cold as our Northern friends...
but after our hotter than h@** summer...
it is nippy...we had our first freeze yesterday...

believe it or not I'm almost done with my
Christmas shopping....
drawing names sure helps....
I've had little britches done for a while now...
now I just have to sit on my hands...
not to add more to it...

I'm really looking forward to all the upcoming
holiday activities...
we have a open house to go to this week..
our Annual Christmas parade...
and tree lighting ceremony
is this weekend...
We are doing our family Christmas...
on Christmas Eve this year...
since we got everyone for Thanksgiving...
they have other families to visit on Christmas Day...
We are doing Chili and soups for our meal...
easy peasy...more time to visit...and enjoy the little ones...
I got my first Christmas card today...
with a cute little crocheted star...
from a friend from high school...
she is a crafty gal...
I need to get busy on my Christmas crafts...
Happy Wednesday....

The making of our christmas card photo...

on Thanksgiving we got together...
to do our family Christmas card photo...
last year we did our shoes...
this year....socks...

it is not easy getting 9 adults and 2 babies to focus...
all at the same time...
even taking foot shots...

everyone gets their shoes off...
into a circle we go...

snap snap...
darn...my camera strap in hanging down...

darn...my nieces feet aren't showing up...

my brothers feet aren't showing...

where did that spot come from on my sock???
thank goodness for cropping...
what did we ever do with out it???
got my cards printed....
they are ready to mail out...
now I'm second guessing...
maybe I should of done this...
or what if we would have done that...
the deed is done....till next year....
I'm still interested in exchanging christmas cards...
just send me an email at debsladybugtexas@aol.com
with your address...
would love to send you a card from Texas....
been working on a card for my blog pals...

Night Light Flight....

It was a beautiful night...
perfect for flying...

when we pulled in this plane was landing...

here's the plane we rode in...
click on the link to learn more about it..
it was once owned by the President of Mexico...
then a skydiving business...
before they purchased it and restored to it's original state..

we sat on the wing...
there were 15 people on board...
not including the flight crew...
the couple in front of us were celebrating his birthday also...
aren't they lucky to have such nice wifes..lol...
the pilots used a flash light to see there control panel...
they told us if we saw them running to the back of the plane...
to follow....quickly....lol..
don't you love pilot humor..
the lights were beautiful....

hubby posing.....he enjoyed his birthday present...

it was a smooth flight...the lights were beautiful...
it was cold...loud....but awesome...
well worth the wait...

this is the plane warming up...
they said it would smoke..
it did...
they said it was loud...
it was...
you can hear hubby talking...
I had on ear phones...couldn't hear a word he was saying...
it got a little bumpy as we were circling the cowboy stadium

pulling away from the hanger...

a view of Ft. Worth...

Today I thought I would be posting about our flight...
 in the wild blue yander...
but life doesn't always work out like you think...
or want it too...

Hubby and I took off for our great adventure...
the airport is about an hour away...
we got there early...since we weren't sure of exact location...
there was no one around the hanger...
I called the number to make sure we had the right place...
got a voice mail...
we decided to drive around for a few minutes and came back...
there was one elderly man there...
trying to get the hanger door latched...
we asked him about the flights...
he was new...only there doing computer work...
but said the plane was inside...
hubby helped him get the door latched...
we waited around for a while...
no one showed up...

so we headed to the Ft. Worth stockyards...
we went to dinner at Risky's Steakhouse...
we had a nice dinner...then headed back home...
I checked my Spam box ....
to make sure I didn't have a cancelation...
nope...
so I sent them an e-mail...
got up this morning...had a reply..
she said for some reason they didn't put us on the list...
so we have been rescheduled for tonight...
on a side note...I checked my camera battery...
it was fully charged...on the way there...
I took a few photos...my battery was showing low...
so maybe things worked out for the best anyway...
putting that battery on the charger as we speak...
Happy 49th birthday Hubby....
your more handsome today than the day I met you...
I'm so happy to have you by my side...
in this game of life...

e-mail...

names drawn for Christmas gifts...
it is a secret this year...of course it was last year too...

Today I'm joining Watery Wednesday
my hubby has been friends with this guy since they were kids...
they have spent many an hour on the river bottoms...
as kids they practically lived down there...
His wife and I could just imagine ....
seeing them as their 10 and 12 year old selves.....
sitting there talking...

hubby is checking out the hog tracks...
it has rained so it will be the weekend before we can try again...

the guys looking at all the signs for hogs...
there are tracks...wallored  rooted out places every where...

"this is the place we used to ride motorcyles"
"look at those tracks" "we are gonna get a hog"
guy talk....

this photo was taken right around daybreak...
I really enjoy starting or ending the day down there...
peaceful....unless you see hogs...
hubby had the nice idea to paint our kitchen...
and living room today...right before Thanksgiving...
good thing we are having our dinner in the late afternoon...
well at last they are painted...
been wanting it done for quite awhile now...
he woke up this morning and decided to get it done...
nothing like having company coming....
to get some of those Honey do's marked off the list...

It's count down to Thanksgiving....
I'm sure everyone is busy...
planning...cleaning...shopping for food...

I am thankful for my family...
for my friends...real world and blogging friends..
don't forget to include the elderly...the single folks...
sometimes they get overlooked during the holidays...
send them a card...make a phone call...
take them something useful....
a gift card...stamps...a basket of fruit..

I saw on the news the other day...
a school is banning balls...
only foam or nerf balls can be used...
okay...get ready...I'm jumping on my soap box...
PLEEEEZZZZEEE....this is ridiculous....
what are we doing to the kids of this great land...
part of growing up is learning the basics of life...
like catch a ball don't get hit by it...
learning who to avoid in Dodgeball...
part of growing up is learning the bad with the good...
you can not protect them from everything...
how will they learn to cope in the real world...
when life throws balls at them...they have to learn to catch them...
or avoid them...okay I'm getting down now...

our leaves are so pretty this year...
we usually go from green to gone...
I'm really enjoying watching the pretty colors fall this year...
have a great day...
remember to take a deep breath and enjoy....

Weekend Reflections

I took these last week on my little road trip...
I'm joining Weekend Reflections
I'm a little late joining in...
hubby and I have had a busy weekend...
we've been going Hog hunting...

yep you heard me right...
hog hunting...
they are every where here in Texas....
very over poplulated....
we were up at 4:30 am....
the first morning around 5:45 we started hearing noises...
we were sitting down on the river...
you could hear sticks breaking...
then pig noises....
we saw movement...
all of a sudden a hog was looking up at us...
grunting...not 20 ft from us...
my heart was racing...
tried to get a photo but was too scared...
down on the river there were atleast 4 more...
one was white and black marked like a jersey cow..
it was huge...
then they were gone...
my heart was still racing...
after I calmed down wishing I had got a shot...
a shot with my camera that is..
it was fun...a little thrilling...
we told some friends about it..
they wanted to go to...
so we went back in the evening...
we saw a skunk and a couple of coyotes..
but no hogs...
up at 4:30 am again...
back in the same spot waiting...
the hogs were a no show...
but we saw another skunk....another coyote...
after day break we went exploring...
we found numerous other spots..
where hogs have  been...
they can destroy a area fast....
so ever been hunting before??
