Saturday was my Mom's Family Reunion...
this was the first time I've been back since my Nana passed...
seven years ago....the closer I got to the exit...
it hit me....she wouldn't be there...
she was there in spirit...I saw her in my Aunt...my Mom...
my Uncles...which made me feel better....

the welcoming committee....(LOL)
my Uncle Tom...Donnis a wonderful friend of the family...
she is still as beautiful today as she was when I was growing up...
I loved spending time with her and her daughter when I was young..
my Daughters middle name is after her daughter...
she dated my Uncle Tom when they were young....
now they are friends once again after all these years...
I'm so happy to have her back in our lives...
my Uncle Gene...he was always the traveler of the family...
they used to say he had sand in his shoes....
had to keep moving to keep it out...
last is my Great Uncle Bill...he is the last of Nana's siblings...

the beautiful lady in the middle is my Aunt Dottie....
the fellow to the left is a cousin...
the character  handsome fellow to the right is my Uncle Bo..
he is my Granddaddies baby brother...
oh I love Uncle Bo...a world traveler and a card...

my niece (in the pink ball cap) having a blast with the other children... I wish we would have brought Hotrod...
he would have had so much fun...

my beautiful Mom(R) and my Aunt Ann (L)
checking out the items for the auction...
Mom sets them up...my Uncles play auctioneers...
they started the tradition last year...
everyone brings something for the auction...
then everyone bids on them...
all the money goes to pay for the reunion...
it was so much fun...

My Uncle Tom on the left...Uncle Don on the right...
they strong arm you a little bit during the auction...
if you scratch your nose you might up the bid....
I tried not to make eye contact with them...
I ended up with a few things that weren't on my want list...
but it was all in good fun...
will do a post about the auction later...
the items hubby and I brought sold well...
the Quillow my Mom made got to stay in the family...
there is a story to be told about that too....
here is my beautiful mother....
with a piece of her fried chicken...
oh she makes it just like my Nana....
it was Delicious...

Every year this cross is passed on to another family member for one year...everyone gets a number then my Aunt Dottie draws...
guess who one this year????
yep....ME....she drew the first number...no one had it...
she pulled the second.... number #28.....my number...
the glass on the cross is from the stain glass windows of the Tiara Church...my Aunts picked it up...
I gave it to my Mom to keep at her house....
since I have Hotrod running around...
I didn't want to take a chance of something happening to it...

It was fun catching up with everyone...
there was good food...good conversations...good fun....
not what more could you ask for...

What a delightful looking family, they remind me of ours! We started doing an auction a few years ago, too - the proceeds go to the cemetery (for upkeep) in my mom's old home town. It's wonderful to see so multiple generations getting together and having fun, it gives a sense of continuity to life ...

this is such a happy post, everyone looks like they are full of joy. i always loved our family reunions and never missed one. now daddy and mother and all their siblings and the spouses of their sibling are gone to heaven. not many of us left, so no family reunions. i really enjoyed yours today and it brings back memories of ours. love the cross and the fund raiser is a great idea.
