just look at the craftsmanship of this barn...
can you imagine the hard work that went into building it...

no power tools back then...

I can only imagine how long it took....
and it is still standing 100 years later...
the snow has melted...but it's still cold...
I reconnected with family from my Mamaw's side..
it's fun getting caught up...it's been 28 years...
it's hard to believe how much they look like their parents..
and how much their families look like them...

daddy is still staring at me from my mirror, and my hands are mothers, my ankles belong to mothers sister. this old barn is wonderful and amazing. all that heavy work and no place to take a shower after all that work... and it is still standing, that is the amazing part

It's so incredible how well made things were in the good old days!

My brother was having a heart cath done by the same doctor our dad used and when he came out to talk to us he looked at me and said "oh, I know you're a Duncan, you look justified your father!" It's so amazing how we get our looks. What's even more amazing is that my sister's son is adopted and he looks like the rest of us! Actually, he looks like my sister who looks more like mama.

Amazing what type of construction was done in the past without power tools.

We had the sleet/ice this afternoon.

hopefully it won't last long.

We often take for granted how difficult it was to build back in the day. Love the texture of the old wood. :)

I love your perspective! Enjoy this beautiful weather! You had more white stuff than we did, but like you, Deb, I'm glad it's gone, too.

Took me a while to figure out why the wood looked odd - it was not perfectly squared by the power tools... I like that look!!
