A few things about me....

(the Red River)

Thought I would share a few things you might not know about me today...

  • I never left the state of Texas until I was 14 or 15 and my Uncle drove me across the border to Oklahoma...so I could say I had been out of Texas....I was a little disappointed...I expected it to look so different on the other side....

  • I've never had a dishwasher...always do them by hand

  • My great Grandmother came to Texas in a covered wagon...she passed away one week before her 100th birthday

  • I am 4 ft. 11....my hubbies Mom was 4 ft. 11

  • I was a school crossing guard when pregnant with my daughter....believe you meet I stopped a lot of traffic when I stepped off that curb with my stop sign....and my pregnant belly

  • My favorite western is McClintock with John Wayne

  • My blogs name came from my Nana...she always reminded me of a ladybug....so I called her my ladybug...every time I see a ladybug when I'm gardening....I think of her and know she's watching over me...

  • I never learned to swim...

  • I was 7 or 8 before I learned to ride a bicycle without training wheels.. our neighbor Mr. Cook taught me....he put me at the top of a small slope and let me go...it was pedal or fall....I pedalled...

  • My grandfather called my Nana Pete....because he didn't like her given name Edna....my son named his 1st dog Pete....it was a little bird dog....and he would ride in my son's little red wagon every where he pulled him

  • I didn't meet my biological Dad until I was 3o...and he lived in my same town the whole time I was growing up

  • I was in my 30's before I ever flew on an airplane...we flew to Houston...so I could fly before a fall trip to Wyoming....I always thought I would be too scared...but I really enjoyed it....

Well that's a few things about me.....anything you would like to share with us about you????

I wash dishes by hand too and I can't believe you're not a swimmer with all the water places you go to! I've been swimming as long as I can remember.

Hi Deb, loved reading these things about you, it's so nice to "get to know" our blogging friends.
That's wild about your biological father living in the same town as you all those years! I never knew my father, even what he looked like, until I tracked him down myself when I was 24. He lived in Washington DC, we met one time, he flew to Texas with his wife to meet me and my family (hubby, three kids when they were small). We then wrote a bit back and forth and he died about 18 months after I found him. Have always been grateful that I found him when I did and got to know him a little.
Anyway...great facts about you, maybe some others will post some on their blogs too :-)
xoxo

I've never owned a dishwasher either... and strangely enough, don't feel like I have to have one. I'm happy to wash by hand. At least I know all my dishes are really clean! :)

That's a fun list. We do have a dishwasher, but not a tumble drier - even with our rainy climate!

Thanks so much for your good wishes. My Dad is improving a bit, but now that all the system failure things are on the mend there's the problem of his shattered hip replacement. But we're just so glad he's more like himself again and out of high dependency.
