remember when this was the only way to mow your lawn...
you use alot of energy pushing this thing...
no need to go to the gym...you get your work out right on your lawn...
physical labor always make me feel better...
mental labor is exhausting...
and doesn't give me the same feeling of satisfaction...
I've never used one...but it might be fun to try....
what modern convience would you give up and go back to old way of doing it?

Hmmm. I'd be willing to give up my steam iron and go back to those incredibly heavy weights that you had to heat up separately, sprinkle water by hand, then press the hot metal weight to the clothes to press them. THAT way, my clothes would have an excuse to look like I didn't iron them! Grrr.
This is a tough one. I could likely give up my television set, since I just don't watch it much.
Do I remember those "push mowers"? Yes, I do. My friend Craig and I used to sell our talents on weekends----For $4 we would push mow your yard, pull weeds, edge the fences and walks and basically do whatever. I was the master of the pushmower. It sometimes was damn near impossible, when
the grass and the sod was thick...but God, you know I wouldn't trade those memories for nuthin'. Thank you!
No I wouldn't give up the modern convience!
This was when families were families, and helped one another, and had chores, now we do everything as quick as we can so we can "enjoy' life
hmmmm, good conversation starter. I would give up the convenience of store bought bread and make mine daily. Baking bread is fun to me and the house smells wonderful when it comes out of the oven. I've never used one of those kind of mowers and I don't think that I want to. I'm not crazy about mowing the grass unless it's on a riding mower. Those are fun.
I DID give up my dishwasher for about a year......there is a kind of therapy in washing the dirt away from dishes in hot sudsy water adn setting them all shining and clean in the drainer.
Now that I have a NEW dishwasher...I will find my therapy some other way!
PS...is this YOUR mower? Great yard art!
I don't have to give up a dishwasher since I don't have one! That will have to be my sacrifice as I am not willing to give up any other device that saves me work and time.
I also have one of those old hand mowers. Mine is very heavy and very old. I like to use it for a decoration in the fall. It's rusty and goes nicely with pumpkins, hay bales and cornstalks. Every now and then I push it a few feet to see what it was like in the "good" old days...If I really need to cut grass, I would take a power mower anyday!
We were talking about these lawnmowers the other night and how I wished I had ours....My brother did most of the mowing but I liked to flip it over the other way and push it!!
My Grandpa used to have one of those push mowers. I never tried it, but I'll bet it's great exercise.
Give up my modern conveniences? Not if I don't have to!
