milkweed i believe.
It does look like milkweed.
I have seen it, but I don't know what it is called.
Yes, I am still playing catch-up from a long weekend.
MILK-WEED PODS! Or so husband says.
He also says they were gathered, during WWII, to help in the making of life-preservers. [flotation devices]
Your "Little Known Fact 101" for today! :-)

What ever it is..the photos are great!
Great pictures! It is antelope horn milkweed - wonderful for attracting monarch butterflies! I placed some scraps of old sheets around those on my property (between Wimberley and Blanco) to catch the seeds so I can plant them in even more places for next year. The flowers are unusual looking, here's a link to a photo of them http://carriewolf.net/blogimages/antelope-horns07.jpg ... I so enjoy your blog and photos, many thanks for sharing them with us!

I guess by now you already know it's milkweed. They are such fun plants. As kids we used to love to pull off all the fluffy "stuff" and let it blow in the breeze.
I agree that it's probably milkweed. The seeds look pretty in your photo.
Yes, I'm behind, too. Seems to be a chronic state.
I second the motion - it is milkweed! You missed the stage where the pods are just opening, and the seeds lie like fish scales, till the fluff fluffs up and the float away...
The scent of the flowers is incredible, btw!
