It has been a great weekend...
busy....great...
We had Hotrod and the granddogs for the weekend...

Friday night we went to dinner...
at Hotrod and Pawpaws favorite place...
to eat catfish...
Saturday night we went to Prairie Lights...
it was a nightmare getting to the place...
but once there...it was a blast...
Hotrod got to help Pawpaw drive...
he grinned from ear to ear the whole trip through...

today we picked up our Christmas tree...
Hotrod was excited to help...
on the way home we stopped for Icecream (frozen yogurt) cones...
the tree is in the stand...ready to be decorated...
a nice weekend...nice memories...
I found this poem...
I get really sentimental during the holidays...

Old Memories
(Carice Williams)

I treasure sweet old memories
As time goes swiftly by.
A few bring smiles of happiness
And some tears to the eye.

They all are precious in their way,
Reopening doors of old
That have been shut these many years--
What pictures they unfold!

These dear old, sweet old memories
All play their special part
In bringing joy and opening up
The latch strings of the heart.

That is a beautiful poem!! I get sentimental this time of year too. I am putting up my decorations here in the camper and they all hold such special memories.

You're brave to go with all that traffic. I have a bit of claustrophobia and getting stuck in traffic puts me SO on edge. Not so bad if someone ELSE is driving.
I love all your family traditions and watching how y'all celebrate!

Christmas is a sentimental time of the year.

My son will be 50 in June of this year coming in 2013.

I cannot believe it. Now I do feel older as the saying goes. Not old. I refuse old. Ha,ha.

Then my youngest son is going to be 41. I just remember my son your sons age.

Then my daughter is not far in age behind my oldest son.

I enjoyed your pictures very much.

Your blog was touching and your poem.

Thanks for sharing.
