warning soap box......

I was so excited to see my cactus are starting to do something...

the poor things have been knocked over a few times...
and I've stuck them back in the ground...
(little boys next door chasing loose balls)

not sure what happened to this one...

little britches and I took a walk...
found some roses blooming...
I've never had good luck with roses....

this one looks like it's say good morning....

love yellow iris' I used to have a few....
don't know what happened to them....

Now I'm going to get on my soap box for a bit....

If you watch the news...read the paper or the Net...

You know cities...states...and the whole US has money problems....
the Schools have lot's of money problems...
I have a solution....
Instead of firing classroom teachers....
why not make use  of their PTA's...PTO's...
other parent groups...church groups...local business'...retired citizens
help out....no salaries required...volunteer....
I know that means some will loose their jobs...
but we don't need over crowded classes and over worked teachers...
we can have these groups take over
janitorial duties....arts classes...music classes...
lunch room monitors....lunch room staff...
coaching...extra circular activities....
substitute teachers....office staff...
have local business sponsor office supplies...
school supplies...
get the whole community involved...
this would be a start....
don't cut programs...find a way to keep programs...
but not spend money....
I know this is a foreign concept to most government folks...
who seem to have the spend...spend.... spend...mentality....
Teachers just know I appreciate all the work it takes to teach your students....
without good teachers where would we be???
and that includes all the homeschool families...
I admire you so....
you are wonderful to take control of your child/childrens education...

Okay....I feel better....
and please if you are a staff member I don't want you to loose your job...
but cuts have to be made....

I like the way you are thinking from your soapbox.

Good idea, Deb!

Common sense!

But!

Therein lies the difficulty. -sigh-

No one these days, likes to notice or use common sense. Especially our government!

Bahhhhhhhh-humbug!!!

Gentle hugs,
.♥.

The American people at one time thought much as you are thinking now. Remember Rosie the Riveter and the theme during WWII....'Use it up! Make it do! DO without!'
We are so far away from being the resourceful people we used to be as a country. It was once a shame to even TAKE any kind of assistance. People had PRIDE and would not take something they had not earned or worked for in some way. Now we are a country full of folks who think they are entitled to.....you name it! We have strayed so far from where we were.....
SO, I appreciate you scooting over on that soap box and making room for me! I will step down now in case someone else wants up here!

Well said!

I too wish I could grow beautiful roses but they die in my care :(

You make a lot of sense, my Texas friend! I love roses, but, alas, they just don't grow well for me--maybe that's why I bead so many of them, LOL. Thank you so much for the feature/link on my butterfly!

Wow, Linda said it all! Amen!

I cannot grow roses either, so I don't even try anymore.

Amen and Amen .... I agree with your thoughts!

Our son is a teacher.... and I know he would more than welcome help from parents.

I planted 3 Knock Out roses last week.... sure hope they live.....

Have a great weekend with all your plans.... sounds like a busy one!

I'm a high school teacher, and love the students and teaching, but not the handcuffs put on us by government (don't get me started on standardized testing!) Your comments are right on - and hearken back to the day when people pitched in together to make things work. That same mentality would help us address problems like unemployment, homelessness, etc. too - if we took it upon ourselves (individually and in local groups) to help others in need and not expect "the government" to take care of everything. Ok, I'll quit trying to shove you off that soap box, lol. Thanks for a very enjoyable blog, and have a wonderful weekend!
