Can you guess where I spent the day today???

Hubby, daughter and I went to the Zoo....

It was such a nice day...sun shining...not too warm...

last night we had family game night...

we played Scooby doo monopoly...

hubby won big time....

we went to brunch on the way to the zoo...

it was a nice Mother's Day weekend....

Happy Mothers Day Mom.....

Some of my favorite childhood memories..

listening to music...dancing...you exposed us to all types of music..Motown...ZZ top...Country...Disco...I remember riding in your T-bird on Friday nights going to Fred's BBQ or Harvey BBQ for take out listening to Marvin Gaye...doing the hustle...doing the bump... or the latest disco moves....

Saturdays going to the laundry mat...we always got money to go next door to 7-11 to buy penny candy...on the way home we would go to Burger King or Pizza Hut for lunch

going to a park taking paper...pencils...crayons...a blanket...drawing what we saw...learning to appreciate the world around us...without even knowing it...collecting tadpoles...butterflies...flowers..etc...

every summer you had a load of dirt hauled in for us to play in...we dug...spread...made mud pies...slid down...you name it...by the end of summer that pile was long gone...

having a water fight in the kitchen while we were doing dishes...

watching a scary movie with me and Kim...with the blankets pulled up over our heads...screaming our heads off

letting us have rabbits...dogs...gerbils...turtles..hermit crabs..hamsters...fish...birds...Daisy the duck that lived in the house till she got too big and I had to take her to the duck pond to release

putting up with our music wars...me Rock n Roll...my brother country

sewing my clothes...I didn't appreciate it when I was little..sure missed them when you stopped...

not killing me when I almost ran Bessie (a Lincoln Continental with the long front end) through our garage...showing off for the boy next door...and not killing me because of the boy next door....

Happy Mother's Day Mom....

you were just 15 when you had me....we grew up together...

thank you for all the wonderful live lessons you taught me...

thank you for all the Nanny memories with your Captain and Princess...

thank you for all the memories you are making with our little britches AKA Hotrod...

You had a great inspiration in Nana...you probably didn't know it growing up...

but she shaped you to be the loving Mom and Nanny that you are...

but if you've ever helped raise a child or animal...

you are a MOM...

little britches likes to be called Hotrod now....

he get's such a big kick out of me calling him...

Hotrod...

he is having a little fun with his Aunt...

in his Fort...

nothing like a few quilts...pillows...

chairs and a card table.....

he is boy through and through...

a little sprinkler fun....

kids are a lot tougher than we are...

that water was cold to me....

first experience with paint...

I don't know if him or the paper got the most paint...

side walk chalk...a great investment....

I think my daughter and I enjoy it more than he does...

but he is starting to draw more....

of course a tennis ball is a big hit around here...

with "Hotrod"....Rooster...Ginger...and Nolan...

Jake is the only one that could care less about a ball...

it is never a dull moment...

with a grandson...3 dogs...and a granddog...

some days it is more like a 3 ring circus...

trying to keep all of them where they should be....

doing what they should be doing...

I have to be careful when I walk out of my office...

I have almost got ran over by a squirrel several times...

they use this fence as a highway to the pecan tree...

they run as fast as they can...

to avoid My Border Patrol....

we don't seem to have as many squirrels this year...

as we did last year...could be the border patrol...

this little guy was moving really fast....

I don't blame him though...

it has been a busy Monday....

we have been in the 90's..

suppose to cool off a bit...

maybe some much needed rain....

today was the memorial party for my DIL's Mom...

we had it here at our place...

It was HOT today....in the 90's...

she had requested a party when she passed...

that is what her daughters gave her....

oops...little britches balloon got loose...

I thought forsure he would be really upset...

instead he got a kick out of watching it fly away...

guess what he did with the next balloon he got a hold of....

bye bye balloon...fly way far away....

he wanted to turn them all loose...

to fly fly away....

It was a day to say goodbye to his Meme...

my DIL and her sister gave a very nice party...

their Mom would have been proud...

who said kids need high priced gadgets to have fun....

it's amazing how a box of scarves...

 a cd with fun music can stimulate a little one...

even an Oma too...

a little homemade playdoh....

a few cookie cutters...

a little smashing...rolling...

can keep a busy boy busy....for more than a minute...

a funny 10 cent hat...a little jig...

can make everyone smile...

learning to put your shirt on...

all by yourself....

the joys of children...

the simple things that help them learn...

that help them grow...

add a walk to see the three stop signs....

a bucket full of water...

with spoons...a funnel...a ball...

you have a little part of our day today...

I thought you said you were bringing home grasshoppers...

I looked for grasshoppers...

but then I saw these worms...

I had my heart set on grasshoppers...

we have worms every day...

this is a special day....

oh come on honey...

everyday is special with you....

this is where Sturdy Starling rests...on our roof...

he seems to be doing well...he flys fine...

the other birds don't seem to pay any attention to his disability...

a few of my cactus are blooming...

I wish the blooms lasted longer...

my cantelope (that I dried seeds from another cantelope)

are starting to flower...so excited...

the second batch of green bean I planted are growing faster than the first batch I planted....

I have one tomatoe turning a little orange...so excited for that first one..

little britches decided in the middle of the patio was a good spot

for Ms. Froggie...I have to agree...doesn't she look relaxed...

I got to sit on my swing for a little while before dark last night...

just me...my camera...and 3 dogs of course...

it was nice to have a few minutes to relax...

for the last few months I have felt like that dog chasing it's tail...

trying really hard to get more organized so I can get caught up...

I don't think I will ever stay caught up with everything...

but it's getting a little more manageable...

there is so much I have to do...so much I need to do...

so much I want to do...

some days it makes my head spin...

this one keeps me motivated to do it all...

especially the want to dos.....

I noticed this starling the other day...

it spent a lot of time down in the grass...

I watched it for a while...it has an injured or broken leg...

it doesn't seem to slow it down at all...

after leaving the grass area it flew up to a tree...

well it couldn't sit on a branch...it was hanging by one leg...

upside down flapping his wings...

he flew off...I was concerned...I noticed it later in the day...

it was down on the ground under the bird feeder...

eating off the ground...so it is eating...

it has also found a place to rest on our roof...

we have a foam roof...so it has found an area..

where he can rest comfortably...

I guess we can learn alot from our animal friends...

even when they have problems...they make the best of them...
