Happy Mother's Day to my Mom....

beautiful...smart...

can turn anything into something beautiful...

always there when you need her...

I love you Mom....

your the best Mom and Nanny....

we are all blessed to have you in our lives...

there are not enough words in the world...

to express how much we all love you....

 





Frozen

 Frozen....

no not the Disney movie...

Frozen sidewalk chalk...

Hotrod requested to make it...

he remembers it from last summer...

 

 really simple...

equal parts corn starch and water...

add food color...or washable paint...

mix well...

put in freezer...

for these we used star ice trays...

we also made some in the plastic popsicle containers..

you see them everywhere...

 it is a very messy...fun...way to enjoy a warm day...

Hotrod doesn't really care about drawing with them...

he just likes to smash them...

rub them...

and get it all over himself...

 

 they are super simple to make...

easy to keep on hand...

 

 I love how the simplest of things...

bring so much joy and laughter to Hotrod...

he really has a wonderful imagination...

 

 clean up is easy...

just run a hose across it...

or let it rain...

which we are hoping to get some today...

 

 I am sitting in the dental office this morning...

my sweet daughter is having 2 wisdom teeth removed...

you know no matter how old they are...

they are still your babies...

I hate to see them go through discomfort...

 

 I will take her to her house and stay with her...

then her boyfriend will come home at lunch time...

to take over...he is such a sweetie pie...

I'm so happy she has him in her life...

 

 Hotrod is just taking a closer look...

up close and personal...

My Mom gave me her old swing...

the back was in bad shape...

so Hubby took it off...

we hung the bottom part on the fence...

gotta a little spray paint...

turned it into a feeder for the squirrels and birds...

the piece on the fence came off an air conditioner...

used a little spray paint...

waalaa...

there was a squirrel on there today...

of course I didn't have my camera handy...

 





remember the 2 windmills my step Mom's brother gave us??

well here they are...

Hubby and Son...did some welding...

got them in good shape...

 



 

Hotrod has been enjoying his pool time...

I changed my allergy medicine...

I had forgotten the Dr. gave me a prescription back in the winter...

I have been taken a over the counter form...

it wasn't helping with my asthma...but helped with other

allergy symptoms...

I started taking the prescription Singulair...

has already been a big help with my asthma...

hopefully the sneezing and itchy eyes will leave soon...

I can't help but be outside...with Hotrod...

my garden...the dogs...I spend a lot of time out there...

staying strictly inside is just not something I can...

or want to do...so what's a few sneezes here and there...

itchy eyes...when you can get so much enjoyment...

being out side...

 

 



Rubbish Tuesday

 Today I'm joining Rubish Tuesday

where you publish old stuff....

this old bucket I got for 39 cents at a thrift store...

makes a perfect bird feeder...

 

 this flower I made from two old beer cans...

easy to make...a little spray paint...

lot's of fun....

 this is a back view of a farm house at Penn Farm...

at Cedar Hill State park...

it was taken this winter...

 

I love things old...rusty...worn out...

repurposed...beauty is definitely...

in the eye of the beholder....

I have people tell me...

you find the most boring things...

and make them appealing and interesting...

I guess it's because I look for beauty in unlikely things...

hopefully it shows in my photos...

or quack quack...

not sure if it's a chicken or a duck...

 



Rooster is making sure everyone is playing fairly...

he is not only border patrol...

he is also play ground monitor...

 



I bought 12 clear saucers for $1.49...

was so excited...

brought them home...washed them...

they have a cloudy look...

that doesn't wash off...
even soaked them in bleach...

so I decided to use them for crafts...

pulled out a old cup...a few stones...

now it is a bird feeder...

 



Hotrod loves to play with playdoh...

Pawpaw and Hotrod mixed all the colors up...

in the past this would have bothered me...

but really...what difference does it make??

plus look at the cool cars...



this is Hotrods carwash for his cars...

so love his imagination....
I asked him what he was doing behind the curtain....
it's my car wash Oma...
warm day in Texas today....
got the swimming pool out...
Hotrod is turning into a fish....
kids are a lot tougher than grownups...
that water is cold....
 



I woke up Saturday morning...

after sleeping in a bit...

then I got busy on my To Do list...

as a reward for getting so much done...

Hubby and I went to....

Lone Star Park...for Derby Day....

 

 the Kentucky Derby....

well we might not be from Kentucky...

but let me tell you Texans know how to celebrate...

I spent more time people watching...

than horse watching....

 the ladies in their hats...

being a hat girl myself...

I was having a blast looking at all of them...

I even wore one of my big hats...

 

 it was very crowded...

placing a bet...or getting a drink or something to eat...

took a really long time....

 

 this couple reminded me of old time Hollywood...

I know he must have been hot...

it was in the 90's...

but he sure didn't show it...

 

 there was lot's of picture taking going on...

so it wasn't hard for me to snap a few photos...

well you know me lot's of photos...

 

we had intended to stay for the Kentucky Derby Race...

it was going to be on the big screen...

but Hubby and I were hungry...and tired of the crowds..

so we headed out to have a nice steak dinner...

today we got to sleep in a bit...

then I got busy staining my two picnic tables...

it looked like such a easy little job...

well...it took some time...about 2 hours each table...

another thing marked off my list...

Hubby managed to get some things off his list too...

and helped me with a couple of projects...

I will be sharing them this week...

trying to make a ugly fence...look a little nicer...

now to rest and relax...

before another busy week begins...







 Friday....

a day of reflection...

looking back at the week...

looking forward to the weekend...

 

this has been a rough week...

I have just been out of sorts all week...

the loss of Nolan...

has all of us out of sorts...

even the other furbabies...

things just feel out of kilter...

 

 seems like I have gotten behind on everything...

chores...office work...

I haven't just been sitting around doing nothing...

my days are full...

but feel like that dog chasing my tail...

never quite catching it...

 

 so I am making myself a list...

going to start at the top...

and work my way down...

 

 we are finishing up with the planting of the garden...

everything should be in this weekend...

another thing to cross of my list...

 

I also plan on getting a little down time this weekend...

just to do a whole lot of nothing...

I think this will help me be refreshed to start a new week...

I'm sore from all the gardening...

gotta get my gardening muscles back in shape...

now I'm off to make that list...

so I can get to crossing things off...



Good Fences

Today I am joining Texwis Girl with Good Fences

there are plenty of Texas fences to share....

sometimes it isn't exactly the fence...

but is what is in front of the fence...

 



other times it is what is through the fence...

I wish Iris' bloomed longer....they go to fast...

this is at the Cedar Hill State Park...

they call it the perch pond...

it is a nice place to take the kiddos fishing...

there are a lot of perch in there...

that love to bite...

the kids...(including me) love to catch them...

I'm thinking it is about time to go fishing again...

Happy first day of May...

where did April go???

we started out cold this morning...

but the sun is shining...

and that crazy wind has finally slowed down...

we have been so Windy...

and with wind...comes the allergies...

I've been on allergy medicine since the first of March...

it helps but doesn't stop it all...
