Stop by and get warm.......

Today we are going to imagine it is 90 degrees...
grab your lemonade....and follow me....
we are going to fish a spell.....

then we are going to float around the pool...
drink our lemonade...or maybe a
margarita....

we're going to jump in an join these kiddos
cooling off in the water....

put a pretty flower in our hair....

sit under the umbrella for a while...

watch the birds play in the bird bath
(no snow or ice) oops I'm not suppose to mention those words...

put on our favorite shorts and sandals....
pull out the lawn chairs...
have a little family fun...

I think it's getting warmer...
just look at that sun...

how bout a trip to the beach????
got your sunscreen....
sunglasses.....

maybe we will just watch the
sunflowers blow in the nice warm breeze...

Play a little night basketball....
it's still 90 degrees....

how bout a hot dog and a iced (ooops) cold (oops)
beer...maybe some peanuts....

Debbie at http://www.attractedtoshinyobjects.blogspot.com/ has asked me to do a post for all you gals that are colder than we are here in Texas....pass a little of our Texas summer heat on to you all...and maybe make us a little warmer too....So sit back and imagine it is June or July.......and don't forget to stop in and see Debbie......
Hope you enjoyed the summer day.....

Towns....

Do you ever drive threw a town and wonder about the history?

wonder how can their be so many churches
in a small town??? or why aren't there many churches
in this town?

see an old building and wonder who worked there?

what was sold or made there????

this is the Amtrack station in Admore Oklahoma...
how many people have traveled from that very spot?
where were they going? where were they coming back from?

I bet this had been a filling station at one time....
I can see Goober or Gomer Pyle filling up the gas tank...
washing the windshield....drinking a bottle of pop....

how long have these train tracks been here?
how many people have traveled them???
what products have been carried down those tracks...
I love the history of buildings...roads...towns...etc....
what surprising facts have you found out about a town
after you visited????

Ramblings from a Texas Gal....

Yesterday on Facebook a friend posted HOW WE MET...

and you put a comment on how you met this person...

I told my 17 year old niece that I had met her at the hospital...

she answered back...Wow...you are one of the 1st people I met

in my whole life....I thought that was the coolest answer ever...

This morning I visited the Lone Star Queen at http://www.howdyfromcowtown.com/ and her post was about
"Usedtocouldhave".....stop by and visit...you will really get a kick
out of her post... warning to all non-Texans....this is definately a
Texas word.....

The other day my daughter and I were talking about words and phrases
we use here in Texas that people not from here have a hard time
understanding.....

Pallet- that is when you get out all the quilts...blankets and pillows...
make you a pallet on the floor to sleep on....or watch movies...

Worsh cloth- now to refined folks that would be a wash cloth....

Worshiteria- that is a laundry mat....

Tickey- that means you feel kinda itchy....like you got sand in your shirt or something...

Britches- that would be pants or trousers

What words do you use...and your non-local friends look at you like you have 2 heads????

We are having warm front today....gonna hit 40....LOL...then down to the teens for the rest of the week....

Greater Southwest Museum...the Military

I bet these boots have a story to tell....

this is a dog tag machine

they have a great tribute to the military...
soldiers from all wars....
when we were going in a family with a little
boy about 8 or 9 was coming in behind us...
as his parents were signing in...he said I will meet you
in the military section...I think he must be a regular
there....you could see the excitement as he was looking
at all the displays....a lot of history in a small building...

Happy New Years day 2010....hope everyone had a great New Years Eve and not too many headaches or upset tummies....

A few of my goals for 2010:
  • Dance like no one is watching
  • Sing like no one is listening
  • Love like this is my last day on earth
  • Say No when I really don't want to do something
  • Say Yes to things I have been afraid to try
  • Laugh more
  • Live more...be more adventurous
