Hi! You mentioned your trip to Los Angeles on my blog...is this trip to there?
Wish I knew some great local spots to tell you about, but we kinda tried to avoid LA when I lived there (bad traffic and smog and all that...not that there isn't lots of cool stuff to do there).
I do have a few suggestions though--if at all possible, take a side trip to the mountains or the beach (or both if you can). There are both within an hour or two drive from LA, and they are both gorgeous. Would be a shame to visit California and miss that. The California beaches are nothing like Texas beaches...or even Florida for that matter...and fun even when its too cold to swim (which it is this time of year). If you visit the mountains try to travel back down at night, and stop on the side of the road to look down on the city lights.
And, if you want to go cheap and get fast food, In and Out is the place to try. There hamburgers are AWESOME. Also, if you get a chance visit a mexican restaurant and get shredded beef tacos. It's one mexican meal I can't find out in Texas very often, but is pretty common out there...and REALY GOOD!
