The coast is clear....

he was thirsty..
I guess she is standing guard...
or waiting her turn...
these two have a little discussion before they start...
he sounded like a helicopter flying in...
"did you hear that?" "nah, I didn't hear anything"
the doves are a little nervous...
the other day...there was a whole group of them eating...
all of a sudden they all took off...one hit my office
window...feathers were flying every where...
about that time a hawk flew through...
chased them into the trees...then did another fly by...
it was over an hour before any birds came back...
then a lone sparrow came back to eat...
I know all thoses doves where in the trees...
just watching to see if the hawk came back...
if the sparrow is safe....
we will come back....
I guess the coast was clear...

The doves are so sweet! Can't blame them for scattering with a hawk around.

I do love the mourning doves. I hear them cooing away as they sit in the branches above the feeders. I have two or three pairs that have come around lately.

Wow, what a story! I've been wathcing some new parents trying to feed their babies in a nest under the eves by my kitchen window. If I'm working there they won't go to the nest, they must hear me but they can't seem to fiugre out where I am. I had to leave the dishes so the poor babies could eat!
Hugs,
Dawn

I am so glad I am not the only one that makes up conversations for birds. My kids and I will do it for animals, insects, anything we can see. I think it is so fun. I am glad the sparrow was ok so that the doves could come back. The cooing of doves is so peaceful!!

They look like such a happy little community! I hope that hawk stays far far away!
