For the Guys...

This post is for my guys...
my Uncle Tom..my Dad...my Stringbean....
Sunday we went to the Fall Nationals in Ennis Texas...

the weather was not exactly Fall...
95 degrees...well it is Texas...
Elvis was even there....
It was a fun day...
loud with the smell of fuel...
but I loved every minute of it...
Ear plugs were used all day....

I just had to like this guy...
with his Gold suit...

there is just something about the roar of an engine...
I remember this from my childhood....
I didn't enjoy it as a child...
my Mom even raced...
she had a chance to drive for Connie Kalitta...
but my Step Dad wouldn't let her do it...

they have a kids division...
as young as 6 years old...
they were driving 70-80 miles an hour...
I told Hubby don't get any ideas...
I don't want Stringbean going that fast too soon...

Saturday Mom and I went to a car show....
oh I love the Oldies...

my kind of truck...
even has a wooden bottom in the bed...

Mom said my Uncle Gene had a car like this...
but not yellow or shiney...

I remember these...
we didn't think of them as Muscle cars in the day...

This is my Mom's neighbor's car...
I remember when he bought it brand new when I was a kid...
he spent 4 years restoring it...

So Guys that I love...
here is your post...
hope you enjoyed it...
I sure enjoyed taking the photos...

You must have some racing in your blood. Your photos captured the time well. I bet Hot Rod has racing in his future.

Used to go to Ennis. My husband had front engine dragster. He started out on motorcycles. We were at the staging line. I jumped out to unhook the car pulled out of the way but when I went to throw the tow rope in the car the back of the suburban wouldn't open. Our 3 year old daughter got scared and locked the doors. Oh boy! We laugh now but the husband almost forfeited the round because the suburban was in his way. Fun times
