This duck is old...

it was mine when I was a baby....

Hotrod calls it the old duck...

from Oma's a baby....

 

This was my daughters....

I wish I still had the one's from when I was a kid...

they would be old too....

Hotrod loves the hair sticking up....

 

isn't it funny how the simple toys....
seem to be the kids favorites....
my Mom and I were discussing it today...
she watches my niece a few days a week...
she is 5 months younger that Hotrod...
how a box....a blanket..a pillow...
a wooden spoon...a bucket of water...
BOOKS.....
can lead to hours of fun....
I remember as a kid having so much fun with such simple things...
I wish more parents and grandparents would ban
the video games...computer games 99% of the time...
push more imagination toys...outside activities...
arts and crafts...music...nature...
the kids would be healthier....more well rounded ....
TV...video games...computers...
are fine in small doses...
imaginations should be given in large doses...
I'm stepping down off my soap box now...

 

Shadows...

the shadow doesn't lie...

yep Oma is snapping away at Hotrod...

a typical day....

 

Hotrods shadow stays super busy....

 I've always loved shadows...

playing with them...

now photographing them...

 

even a chair can have a cool shadow...
I'm trying to teach Hotrod the fun of shadows...
today we waved our hands...jumped up and down...
he thought it was fun...
but he is really enjoying the....

the mirror....his sweet reflection....
he laughs...makes faces...jumps up and down...
giggles...sings......
I have some of the cutest videos of him playing in the mirror...
 



 we had nice drizzly rain over the weekend...

the kind that soaks in...

just what we've been needing here in Texas...

 

 

the plants and animals sure enjoyed it....

it was a true blessing...

 

today I took a little trip to the thrift store...

I found some cool VHS movies for my daughter...

for .65 each...

also found a bag of Lincoln logs for 2.00....

a cute pair of black sandals for 2.99 Gloria Vanderbelt..

In total I spent $12....my kind of fun....

 

Today my daughter and her boyfriend celebrate 1 year of dating...

they met when she was a bridesmaid at her friends wedding...

he just so happens to be the brother of her friend...

she never met him until the wedding...

they hit it off...have been dating ever since...

we are so happy that she did...he's a good guy...

 



Photo Shoot....

 

I had my photo shoot at the dance studio...

the lighting is not great there...

so some of the photos I decided to do black and white...

 she is a senior this year...

we've known her since she was in second grade...

we are so proud of the dancer she has become...

 

 we've known this cutie since she was a baby...

she got to spend six weeks in New York this summer...

in an intense dance...singing...acting workshop...

 

 it is so great to see the bounties of my daughters teaching...

 the girls hard work and dedication...

 

they were getting ready for a show next weekend...

they will be performing at a Fall Festival...

I had a good Monday...

I got Hotrod today....we had a picnic at the park...

A new week...new possibilities...

 

Signs...

when I was out for my walk I noticed a lot of signs....

 

now these folks really don't want tresspassers...

 

I wonder what happened to make them hang this sign??

now these folks mean business....

 



isn't it ashame you have to post this...

because someone might sue you....

I mean who in their right mind doesn't know...

going fast over speed bumps can cause damage...



graffiti....definitely not art here...

 



hmmm...and this isn't even a farm...

 



now here's a change...Welcome...

hunting or trespassing....

you don't see that very often....

now this can be a double edged sword...

you let people know to be aware...

but then if your dog bites someone...

they can say you knew you had a dangerous dog...

so do you hang the sign...or not.....

Do you ever wonder what makes people hang signs???



 Nolan and I took a new route on our walk...

so I thought I would share some of the homes we saw...

 

 I loved the green doors...

I just wish the car wasn't parked there...

 I love black and white...

and the front door was so pretty...

 

reminded me of spring time...

 like a little farm house...

 

 porch swings always grab my attention...

 

 

 this house always looks picture perfect...

the windows are always sparkling...

I don't know how they do it...

I never see anyone cleaning them...

 another fun porch...lot's of possibilities...

 

very neat and tidy....it is also for rent...

hubby is cooking chili for supper...
a big change from a week ago...



we got rain today...nice slow rain....

I thought it was cool how the trees had same color as building..

 I'm keeping all the Americans that are abroad in my prayers..

a lot of unrest going on...

we need to stand strong...

 

 This bridge is very old...

it was used by Bonnie and Clyde...

they spent time in our area...

it is no longer used for automobiles...

it is part of a walking/bike trail now...

on the edge of the golf course...

 

 hmmm...hubby...did you not see the sign???

there are several areas that you are not allowed to disturb....

 

this guy was hanging out on the golf course...

this is a water bucket....

when I saw him it reminded me of a cartoon character..

he just sat there and watched us...

I just finished another good book...

Colorado by Rosey Dow..

It is broken down into 4 stories...

 Steven who needs a wife to get his inheritance...

Em a black woman who grew up with a white family...

Lisa who runs off with a man that abandons her...

Banjo a man who lost his family...

but pulls all these characters together...

It is in the 1800's...

life is not easy for these characters..

but when they all join together...

share their faith...amazing things happen....



 change of weather...

brought me a bad sinus headache...

I battled with it all day yesterday...

made it hard to do anything on the computer...

read...wear my glasses....

think....

 finally around 10 last night it subsided...

so I got a decent night sleep....

some areas got rain yesterday...

not a drop here...

it is sprinkling this morning...

we are going to be in the upper 70's...

big change...for a few days...

 my DIL sent me a sweet video from Hotrod...

made my day....

I'm ready for a nice relaxing weekend...

I get to do a photo shoot on sunday....

my daughters dance group at the studio...

I'm looking forward to it...

My Mom got a cute new hairdo...

she wanted to go short...

I really like it...

she also got new glasses...

I can't wait to see how they look with the new do...

she just picked them up today...

I was there when she picked them out...

the girl at the store tried to get her to try a different pair...

probably more expensive...

but we both agreed on the same ones..

 Here is Hotrods master piece he painted last week...

I found the board in some junk someone set out for the trash...

he painted it...then I nailed a hanger on the back...

now we have art work...

for Fort Hotrod...

 

This is his little Fort inside  his room...

we have blankets and pillows in there...

I have a feeling when he's older...

it will make a good sleeping spot...

 just the perfect size for a growing boy...

 

 just thought I would show you a cool piece of art...

it's under the over pass on a local highway...

an artist did all this...took him quite a while...

the other side of the road is also painted...

 

I had to share this little water/sand table....

I found it at Walgreens today for $5.00...

it was regularly $20.00...

now is the time to stock up on summer items...

Hotrod sure approved...

we got the ring toss for $3.00....

great eye hand cordination....

 

evidently they make good hats too...
