Old Glory.....so much controversy...

why does displaying this.....
cause so much controversy???
I feel proud when I see it flying...

I see freedom...
home of the brave....

what causes some people to be offended by it??
It is the USA after all....
kids are sent home from school...
for wearing the flag...
their papers are rejected at school...
for drawing a picture of the flag...
not allowed to wear them on their lapel at work...

How does seeing old glory make you feel?

Without totally getting on the old soapbox, let me say (1)this is America, (2)that's the American flag, (3)if you don't like it, leave AMERICA! Go somewhere else where you won't have to worry about me offending you by displaying it. Go to a third world country where there is war and famine; maybe an evil dictator and a natural disaster. THEN you will have something to complain about!
(ooops, sorry, guess I did jump up on the soap box, and guess what? I've got am American flag on it!!!)

Girl, my heart beats faster, my pride swells, chills cover my body, and I want to cry with joy! At home when the Texas Rangers play on tv, I stand and sing the National Anthem with my hand on my heart and choke on the words because I love America. When people aren't respectful to the flag, I want to go clobber 'em! My family thinks I'm being funny, but I'm not. I LOVE AMERICA!

It makes me very proud to see the flag waving. Do I think America is perfect? No. Would I want to live anywhere else in the world? Absolutely not! Our strength is in our pride and our ability to work together, which unfortunately we seem to be losing. Funny, after 9-11 all you saw were American flags, I don't remember anyone being offended then. Kathy

So proud of our country! Don't understand why people make such a big deal about things like that at school and work. We should be proud of our one nation under God!

Tara

I cry during the national anthem. I choke up when I thank vets. I fly my flag every day that the weather permits. That about says it!

When you come to this country to live here LEGALLY you must recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The first line says it all- I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America!!!!!! Anyone who is offended by this please leave! All other flags fly below it!!!!! Period! Ahhhh that felt good! Thank you for pointing this out Deb! Hugs

Seeing "Old Glory" flying, makes me proud, of course!!!

All the *controversy* makes me livid!!!

My ancestors [not that far back either... My Paternal Grandfather came from Germany, and he's not that far back, as ancestors go... Don't remember the exact emigration date of the Irish, on my Maternal side] Anyway, they came here to work for, and find a better life.

They followed the Rules! Damn it, they followed the Rules! All who wish to come here, can do the same!

In my humble estimation...

And lovely new Header pic!!!

I admit, you are back ahead of me, with changing Header pics, often. ,-) So far, I haven't taken any photos, which I like better than my pink tree blossoms, to be on my Header.

But I will! I will! I have not thrown in the towel, on our fun *competition* over Who Changes Header Pics More Frequently. :-))))))))

It makes me feel pride and a sense of wonder whenever I see our flag waving! I just do not understand all this other negative garbage about it.

We fly the flag proudly. I cry whenever I hear the National Anthem sung, I tear up when I see little Cub Scouts carrying the flag proudly in a parade. I cry when I see Vets marching in parades.
