I love the style of old cars and trucks...

 

 it brings back old memories....

 

 these belong to my Step Mom's brother...

 

 reminds me of the Bonnie and Clyde days...

 

I'm really excited....

Hubby and I are going camping this weekend....

we haven't been camping in a tent since our kids were small...

we are spending the weekend at the lake....

don't tell Rooster though....

he's staying home....he is on border patrol this weekend...

we have a house sitter for him and Nolan for the weekend....

My Mom is coming out on Saturday....

the kids are coming out on Sunday....

we are keeping our fingers crossed...

we found the perfect camping spot...

but it is a first come first serve at the State Park...

you can't reserve a specific spot in advance...

so Friday morning 6:00am we will be there when the doors open...

to request our spot...then have to go back and work the day...

before we can come back and set up the campsite....

send us some good vibes....we really want that spot....

1. I never flew in an airplane until I was in my 30's....I thought I would be so scared....we flew from Dallas to Houston...then drove to Galveston for a little fun...Guess what???I wasn't scared...then we flew from Dallas to Colorado...then from Colorado to Wyoming...the flight to Wyoming was on what they called a puddle jumper...didn't scare me at all.....I haven't flown a lot....but I don't mind it...can't believe I waited so long to do it...Hubby and I even flew in a WWII bomber...now that was fun....Night Flight click on the link to see my post....
2. I'm terrified of mice and rats....I've been known to knock my own children down to get away from them....when we first moved in to our house we were all standing around our bar area...a mouse ran across the kitchen floor...I plowed through both my children straight out the front door....told hubby to get rid of it...or I was moving out....Hubby being the jokester that he is bought a rubber rat...it is very real looking...put it under my covers one night...I screamed...both Schnauzers got under the bed...I slept on the couch....the rat became Hotrods pal...Whitey...I got over being scared of it...but you get a real one around me...brother (or sister) you better move back...
3. I was 7 or 8 before I learned to ride a bike with out training wheels...I had a fear of falling off...our neighbor...Mr. Cook...taught me how...his driveway was a bit of a hill....he started me at the top....then let me go....I didn't want to fall on the gravel...so I pedaled....my son learned to ride a bike at 4 years old...just a few weeks after his birthday....my daughter was a late bloomer too...she about 7...her problem was she liked watching what everyone else was doing...not where she was going....
4. My first real job was at The County Seat at the mall....they sold jeans...shirts...etc....that was in the late 70's and corduroy was really popular...I was the youngest worker there...so I didn't really fit in with everyone...they were all 19-22...I was 16...my next job was as a hostess at Del Taco....they had just came to Texas from California...it was okay....but not really my kind of job either...next I went to work at the YMCA as a camp counselor...which was fun...I always ended up with all the boys...ages 7-9...I guess they gave me training for Hotrod...that fall I went to work for the after school program...I worked with the 3 and 4 year olds in the morning...drove a van to pick up the school kids..then worked with them after school...I really loved this job...but of course the money wasn't too great...
5. I drive a Ford F-350 flat bed truck...yep...it's a big ole pickup...and I am 4 ft11 (stretching out as much as possible) I get all kinds of funny looks when I step out of Bubba...and get lots of comments especially from men...I love driving a pickup...always have...I can also drive my Hubbies...big ole diesel Dodge truck...it is a 5 speed...I'm not really good at the backing up part...it's just so big...and the whole changing gears thing...but going forward I'm pretty good at it....when we take road trips...we have a deal...Hubby drives there...and I drive home...so sometimes when we are in his truck...I dread the drive home...but I'm getting more comfortable with it....

 

so there you go...5 things about Deb....now

 Hotrod decided to have a car and boat show....

 

first he had to clean them all up....

they all needed a good scrubbing....

 

 

a good brushing off....

 

a little drip drying.....

 make sure they are running smoothly....

 

 

line them up for inspection....

let the judging begin....

Saturday in the country.....

 one of the first things I noticed when got to the BBQ...

was they had........

 GOATS. as neighbors.....

my heart skipped a beat....

I love goats...

I actually had goats at one time...

6 total....

one was a baby I helped deliver....

 I had to grab my camera and head that way....

well when they saw me....

they headed my way....

I was so excited...

feeling like a goat herder....

 

 come to find out....

they were expecting a treat....

I guess my Step Mom's brother...

brings them treats...

I thought I was special or something...

This guy was so cute...and very shy....

I did so enjoy my little photo shoot with them...

after a few minutes they decided I had no treats...

so they all went back to their business...

Following a little boy around.....

little boys don't need fancy...expensive toys....

a container full of sand...

can mean hours of fun...

 



throw a dog in the mix...

well all kinds of fun can be had....



add a dog that will chase a tennis ball....

tons of fun for both....



little hands like to explore....

touch everything in sight...

sand...dirt...water...worms...dogs...

some things...well.... that call for instant hand washing....

the more they explore...the better it is....

1. I met Shirley the squirrely's babies last night...in the cold very windy early evening...they were going to the hanging basket full of peanuts...Shirley has taught them well
2. I'm on day 3 of my Squat challenge...60 squats...1/2 way done so far...boy is my body screaming at me
3. I'm taking a road trip tomorrow...a BBQ that my Dad and his BIL have every year...
4. The sun is shining today...but the winds are blowing like crazy...just so happy the sun is shining...
5. I am a facebook addict...I am working on cutting back my facebook time...it is just so hard not to check in..when it is right there on my phone...I know I don't have to have it on my phone...but now they have so much more on it...I don't do Pinterest...but there is a page that puts all the cool stuff on it...I have a list a mile long of the things I want to make or do.....Are you a facebook addict???

 Hotrod wanted strawberries for his garden....

so of course....Oma got him strawberries...

he did not want to plant them....

Oma you do it....

well they are planted...

 

 well I made it through day 2 of the squat challenge...

55 squats....and let me tell you....

I feel it in my caboose....

in my thighs...oh boy....

 

ok old man winter....

it is time for you to say good bye...

Sweet Spring time needs to fly solo....

with out your interruption...

she's got flowers....gardens that need her attention....

 

I have good news....

Shirley has shown her two babies where to get the peanuts...

there were 2 youngsters on the pecan tree today...

headed down to the hanging basket for peanuts...

well you know photos will be here soon...

My daughter's lease is up on her apartment this month...

her room mate will be moving in with her boyfriend...

so my daughter has been busy looking for affordable housing...

keeping my fingers crossed and saying prayers...

she might be moving closer to us....

send a little prayer up if you get a chance...

Hotrod and family might be back closer too...

they have put an offer on a house...the man accepted...

now they are just waiting for the financing to be squared away....

It will be nice to have everyone back in the same town again...

even though they didn't live far...

being in the same time makes a Mom feel better...



 this is a crazy spring for sure...

one day your sweating...getting a sun tan...

the next your shivering...trying not to get a frost bite...

 

 

this bopping up and down is starting to effect my moods...

 

 

 Hotrod has been taking advantage of the warm days...

this boy loves to play in the water....

 

 we were in the 80's yesterday...

gonna drop into the 30's today...

 

well I survived day one on the Squat Challenge...

and yes I am sore....

I've only got 45 more to do to finish today's quota....

would love to have you join me....

remember they don't all have to be done at once...

you can spread them out over the day....

believe me...that is the only way I will be able to do it...



on Monday a friend called...

he wanted Hubby to go fishing with him...

he is a Bass...crappy fisherman....

I told Hubby..GO...

you will have fun....

we can handle things while your gone...

so Hotrod and I dropped him off at the lake...

Hotrod was not thrilled about leaving Pawpaw at the lake...

without us....

well they kept 49 fish....
and he had a good time....
(I think he felt a little guilty for leaving me behind)

 lure fishing is not my kind of fishing...
I'm a worm or minnow girl....
after Hotrod left I went to get a pedicure....
oh did it feel good...
then I got my bangs trimmed...
enjoyed a little alone time....
 

 we are enjoying another 80 degree day today...
then....
boom....
we are dropping temps again....
a chance of rain tomorrow....
 

 my poor Mom is having really bad allergies this year...
her and my little niece must be allergic to the same thing...
they seem to get it at the same exact time....
My Mom is a trouper though..she doesn't let it stop her...
she did go to the Dr....
hopefully she will be back to normal soon....
 

this guy was doing a little dance back and forth....

till he caught himself lunch....

I decided I would give it a try...

so today is Day one...

50 squats...

I'm going to do them in 5 sessions of 10...

I will let you know tomorrow if I can walk....or sit...
