I noticed this starling the other day...
it spent a lot of time down in the grass...
I watched it for a while...it has an injured or broken leg...
it doesn't seem to slow it down at all...
after leaving the grass area it flew up to a tree...
well it couldn't sit on a branch...it was hanging by one leg...
upside down flapping his wings...
he flew off...I was concerned...I noticed it later in the day...
it was down on the ground under the bird feeder...
eating off the ground...so it is eating...
it has also found a place to rest on our roof...
we have a foam roof...so it has found an area..
where he can rest comfortably...
I guess we can learn alot from our animal friends...
even when they have problems...they make the best of them...

Aw, that is hard to see, but it seems like he was getting along okay for now.
Oh I am so glad you watched long enough to find that he was taking care of himself.

Nothing like the will to live is there. I always try to help and end up making things worse. It can be hard to watch.
awww, so sad! glad it found a soft spot to rest.
i hate to see them struggle, but at least nature is resilient.
I hope he stays hidden or out of the way until he heals- he is an open target there on the ground. He looks pretty healthy otherwise!
Interesting that he can still fly. Maybe the problem is that he can't perch because his leg is injured? Hope he makes it.
Things like this are sad, but part of nature.
Wonderful analogy, Deb! The Scripture says to look to the animals - Job 12:7-8: But ask the beasts; they will teach you, and the fowls of the air, they shall tell you...Just what you said...:)
Poor little fellow. Nature is tough and will adapt to deal with problems. It certainly sounds like he has the will to live. I hope he makes it.
Breaks my heart for that little bird. But, amen to making the best of it. blessings ~ Tanna
Sure shootin'...God takes care of his own, even the birds of the sky!
Hopefully the little feathered friend will make it and live to perch again!
Great pics of him!
Have yourself a fantastically blessed day sweetie!!! :o)
A determined little bird.
Poor little starling! I am glad he is doing OK, though.
