Sunday we had our Christmas in the country...
at my Dad and Step Mom's home....
it rained most of the day Saturday....
Sunday the sun was shining....
the wind was freezing...high of only 40 I believe...
it didn't stop us from having a good time...
Hubby cooked a brisket...and pork...
he really out did himself...
(My Dad supervising)
Hotrod had a blast...
Santa had a microphone...
when you sing...he moves around...
needless to say Hotrod kept Santa busy....
my son and my Dad...guy talk...
My DIL happy with her gifts...
wooden heart made by my Dad...
Afghan made by my step Mom...
all made with love....
also bags of baked goodies for us all...
Hotrod loved his gifts....
trucks for his rock hill...
a car hauler full of cars...
I see hours of fun here...
Great Grandpa G took Hotrod and his Mommy for a ride...
then the girls took it for a spin...
they got stuck in the mud...
no problem though...
my Dad got out his four wheeler...
they were unstuck and off again...
Santa was such a handsome fellow....
I spotted mistletoe...so...you know there had to be kisses...
aren't they sweet....
Hubby was busy loading up my treasures...
this belonged to my Grandmother...
it was completely full...and I mean completely full...
of dishes...glasses...whatnot treasures...
my Step Mom sent them all with me....
I believe there were 8 boxes total...
plus a few more that did not fit in the boxes...
I also got a cedar chest....
it belonged to my Great Grandmother...
it is beautiful...
a pretty little velvet hat with a veil...
also belonging to my Great Grandmother...
It is so awesome learning all about my family tree...
it is also awesome that my Step Mom is sharing all this with me...
We had a nice day....good food...good people...
Hotrod had a blast in the country...
he asked me this morning...
Can we go back to Great Grandpa G's house today???

sounds like a great time! glad, at least, the sun shone on sunday for you!
and now with all your new treasures you will never run out of something to photograph and post about... that is one cool little trunk and i want to drive it. i also would love to sing into that santa
What a beautiful post! I loved it and of course always love your photos. I think it is wonderful you received so much of your Great Grandmother's things. Being in the business of antiques, it is always so sad when I see things for sale that no one in a loved ones family wanted.
Merry Christmas,
Sue
Looks like you had a wonderful time and that Santa sounds like fun....no wonder Hotrod was enjoying him. Love your new cabinet. Merry Christmas!
Who could ask for a more perfect day of family, good food and fun. Amazing treasures you took home sweet Deb. Hugs and Merry Christmas!!
