Good morning Deb. It is hard to accept that this is what is happening - but it is. For me - it has been 5 years since someone broke into my home in the wee hours of the morning and attacked me (raped/sodomized and robbery). I find it very hard to accept that had I had a gun and used it - I could have been facing charges - like I was some kind of criminal. I am not a criminal. I haven't even had a traffic violation since the 1980's. It is hard to believe that this happens in our country. The criminals seem to be winning this battle.
My house was robbed one year ago. When the police went through my house, they then said to me that it looked like I "robbed" my own house. They didn't do anything because of that. Everything of value was taken - the insurance company (American Family Insurance) was a joke. Why would I rob my own house? I can't imagine what would have happened if I came home, found them in there and shot them!
It makes me wonder what in the world happened to people's senses of decency. The 'judicial' systems around the world are so screwed up that you just have to pray you never get involved in any crime--ever.
Maybe this is one of the things that NZ got right because the national health system was a trade off for suing for personal injury.
Bettyl is dead-on... one has to hope that one doesn't become involved in anything like this. Because the morals of most people, their sense of right and wrong, is so screwed up it's downright scary!
It is terrible that criminals have more right than victims...atleast here in Texas you can protect yourself if someone comes on your property and tries to do harm....you would think that would slow criminals down...you never know who has a shotgun on the other side of that door...even little old ladies know how to shoot a gun...
If it has to be grey around here, I really wish it would come with a good fog! Rain is rather boring, when it comes down to it! But at least you don't have to shovel rain!
It was extremely interesting for me to read this article. Thanx for it. I like such topics and everything connected to them. I would like to read a bit more soon.
