we had rain all weekend here in Texas...

the plants were singing.....

Rain drops keep falling on my head....

 

it was the good kind of rain...

slow and steady....

it has ended...

we also had a earth quake in our area...

I slept right through it...

 

I found out about it when I woke up and read Facebook...

I told hubby every one was talking about an earth quake...

he said something woke him up...

but he didn't realize what it was...

 

he felt a shake...but thought he was dreaming...

 



 

I was looking at pumpkins at the grocery store today...

they have sure gone up since last year...

last year 3.99....this year 5.99....

I'm gonna have to price around...

I played with it yesterday...

actually I spent way too much time on the computer yesterday...

playing with my blogs...facebook...

see I'm making baby steps towards Fall...

 



 

I'm still hanging on to summer...

I found this sheet at the thrift store for $2.00...

my Mom gave me the pillows...

they were a great match...

so like any good little blogger...

I decided to do a photo shoot...

 I think the yellow brightens it up a bit...

there are small yellow stripes in the sheet...

 

 I love my glider...

hubby bought it for me a few years ago for $60.00...

he wanted to sand it down and repaint it...

but I like the rust...

it adds character....

 

I enjoy sitting on it...reading...crochetting...relaxing....

 

 

Hotrod and I enjoy cuddle time...

singing...gliding....

Rooster enjoys taking a nap on it....

this is a just because I can photo....

Constant Motion

Constant motion.....

hopefully he will stay that way forever...

constant motion is what keeps us going....

if we just sit down and don't move...

it sure makes it hard to get going again...

my Mom sees a lady at the walking trail every day...

she walks with a walker...but she is there every day...

I love seeing people that keep on going...

even if it is a struggle...they keep on moving...

I like to keep myself busy...

if we are watching TV in the evenings...

I like to be doing something else also...

crocheting...reading...blogging...

not just changing the channel a million and one times...

cause heaven for bid if you watched a commercial...

you've got to have atleast 2 or more shows going at one time....

oops...sorry about that.....a little rant slipped out...

back to my constant motion soap box...

the more you move...the more you keep busy...

the happier you are...and the longer you will be able to have...

constant motion....

wow this has been a fast week....

I do feel like I've accomplished a little though...

 

 

the State Fair of Texas opened today....

I definitely want to go this year...

makes a great photo op....

 

 I have an opportunity to go to the Dallas Arboretum this weekend.

I am so looking forward to it....

my camera is too...

 

I made a garland for Hotrods room yesterday...

I can't share it because it has his name on it...

the letters cost me $1.50...

I have enough left to make several more...

I had everything else I needed already...

I used a black shoe string as the base...

I used old sheet music for the background cut into squares...

DIL has requested one for her bedroom too....

I'm feeling really crafty right now...

I decided to join Five Fact Friday at Reflection of you....

so here goes....

1.  I was born and raised in the same town I live in...I lived in another town for 6 months when hubby and I first got married...but moved right back...so I guess that qualifies me as a hometown girl

 

2.  I don't like the F word...I don't use it...it drives me crazy when I hear people use it so casually like they are saying please or thank you...

 

3.  I love popcorn....I could eat it every night for dinner...I microwave my own in a brown bag..something found on the net...

no oils...sometimes I will put a little shredded cheese on it...

 a good Klassen pickle makes it even better

 

4.  I love music...all kinds of music...classic country...

60's...70's...rock...disco...big band...swing...latino..

 

5.  I love to go barefooted....I love shoes...all kinds of shoes...

sandals...boots....nothing with too high a heel...

but when I'm home...I love to go barefootin'...

even in the winter time...my daughter is the same way...

she loves shoes...she likes the high heels...of course

her feet are accustomed to them...she got her pointe shoes when she was nine years old...she wears flip flops in the winter...

my Mom is a shoe lover...but at home... she is barefootin' too...

guess it's a family tradition...

Hotrod has been wanting to play with my umbrella...

I decided why not....

makes a good photo op....

 

I know Hotrod is wet...

but not from rain...

he has been playing in his water table....

 

He had a ball spining...

walking around with the umbrella...

umbrella still in one piece..

no damage to Hotrod...

Today I played computer Geek...

I'm not very good at it...

just when I thought I had everything taken care of....

ran into a problem....

I was helping my Mom get her computer cleaned up...

hopefully I did some good...

and with a little research I can fix the problem we have....

but I had to cry Uncle for the day....

 

 

technology is great...

but it sure can drive you nuts till you figure it out...

 

 

 

I've started working on getting my garden ready for the winter..

pulling up the last of the plants left over....

adding some Epsom salt for magnesium...

we've decided we are going to plant a little different next year...

 

boy September sure is flying by...

wasn't it just the 1st a couple of days ago...

 do you ever have so many things in your head you want to write about...and when you try to write them...

you have to pick which one you want to use...

cause you don't want to just ramble....

 

 

 

well I decided...why not just ramble...

some one out there might get it...

or atleast part of it...

so here goes...

why are people so quick to judge others??

so what if a 70 year old woman wants to wear dangling earrings...

or another woman wears white after labor day...

if it makes them feel good...

let them....

do you have an outfit or accessories that when you put it on...

you feel really good about yourself....

now what if someone walked up and criticized you for wearing it...

it would just ruin your day....

 

 

beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
I say if someone is wearing what you think is a crazy outfit...
but they are smiling and happy...
smile and be happy with them...
if they are not smiling...find something nice about it..
then tell them....
I bet you both will end up smiling.....

 

don't let others insecurities effect yours....

now we have all seen people dressed or undressed...

that is not appropriate for where they are...

you know with things hanging out that shouldn't be...

I mean a bikini at church...not appropriate...

or a see through blouse at the PTA meeting....

but if someone wants to wear a big floppy hat...

or army boots with their sundress...why not....

 

stripes and polka dots...

why not...

it is amazing when you put on that special outfit...

or accessory....

you walk taller...you smile more....

now that's what it is all about...

I know I kinda jumped all over the place on this one...

but I did warn you it would be rambling....



 

It was a nice weekend...

Hotrod and Ginger spent the whole weekend with us...

on Saturday we added a new granddog...

my daughter got a cute dog...

It sure was quiet when all the grands went home...

 

we watched Hatari for a few hours while my daugher worked...

 



 

 

after everyone went home we went to the movies...

we saw the new Clint Eastwood movie..

 

Behind the curve...I really enjoyed it...

so did hubby....

 

 

my spider lillies have gone crazy....

I don't think I've ever had so many come up at the same time...

great for a photo opportunity....

Dear Summer,

You slipped away too quickly....

 

we had great adventures with you...

sprinkle parks...running....skipping..hopping...

 

Sunday Family lake days...

swimming...fishing...picnics...

 

the petting zoo...

 

fishing with the girls...

 

painting...sidewalk chalk...cars and trucks...

crazy hats....

You've given us wonderful memories...

we will miss you so....

but I have photos galore to keep you fresh in our minds...

counting the days till you return again..

even though the calendar says Fall...

Texas still stays summer...

so I can hang on a while longer...

 



I decided to take a little advice from Hotrod...

have fun with a mirror...

he has a blast playing in the mirror...

I'm not usually the mirror type...

but I gave it a whirl...

 

played with picmonkey a bit...

 

 decided to throw in a feather boa....

I mean...what's better then that???

 

 oops I was a little off here...

 darn it...forgot to take off my glasses...

oh well....

 

who says you can't learn something from a two year old...

mirrors and dress up aren't too bad....
