Having a little fun....

with the sun...

and my sunflowers...

 

 the weekend passed too quickly...

it was a nice weekend...

I managed to do a few crafts I've been wanting to do...

do a little thrift shopping...bumped into my Mom...

she had the same idea I did....

great minds think alike...

 

 

 my patio was a mess...

so I got it cleaned up...

rearranged...now we have more seating...

Hotrods things are more organized...

Hubby and I went to a graduation party...

then a fish fry got caught up with dear friends...

 

 

Have you noticed how free folks are telling their problems

now days...it amazes me the things people will tell...

I would never discuss some of the things that

people tell me...some are perfect strangers...

but proceed to tell me anyway...

I got my ear bent at the fish fry...

I was just shocked the things this lady was telling me...

I only see her a few times a year...

It is a changing world...

not always for the best...



 Summer is here....

we had our first 100 degree day yesterday...

going to be over 100 today...

then a cool front will knock us back down to the 90's...

 

 Hotrod spent a good 30 minutes yesterday....

filling his bucket up from the pool...

taking it to this plastic container...

he told me "Oma...I have work to do..."

 

 we are so enjoying our sunflowers...

so are the bees and wasps...

they don't bother us...

we don't bother them....

Friday got here quick this week...

looking forward to the weekend...

not quite as busy as we have been...

we do have a fish fry to go to...

hoping to get to go to the lake...

I've been missing my lake time....

I actually beat my DIL and Hotrod to the park ....

she said between 9-9:15....usually that means...

she will be there at 10 till 9...I will be there 9:15...

but I got there at exactly 9....

I played with my camera a bit...

and my props...checking out the lighting...

and the shadows....
( my Dad redid this tricycle for Hotrod)

 I have found I get the best shots of Hotrod...

if I just let him do his thing...

and snap....

he decided he didn't like the 3 in front of the tree...

so he knocked it over...

he would play peek a boo from around the tree..

then come running to me...

 

he remembered from last year...

that he wore his Mommies sunglasses when we took

shots here...so we let him do his thing....

he ran....and ran...and ran....

jumped in to Mommies arms...

and ran some more....
oh wouldn't it be great to have all that energy again...

 



 This is the church my niece got married in...

the grooms father is the pastor there...

 

 I love daisies....

they just always look happy...

 

 I like that they went for a traditional topper....

sweet...simple...elegant....

 

 the room with the cakes was air conditioned...

it wasn't very big...but was a nice area to take a break...

 the little deserts were really yummy...

just the right size...

my daughter said these are the new wedding trend...

 

 I told hubby to pick up the sign so I could get a

"just because" photo...he didn't get it...

but he did do it.....sweet Hubby...

I promised my Mom I would get a photo of me...

 My youngest niece is having a blast....

thank goodness for shade trees...

they sure do help....

 Pawpaw built Hotrod a fort for his birthday....

it was a big crate we got an order in...

he camoed it...

put carpet on the floor...

I decided when he out grows it...

it can be a dog house for Ginger...

 

 

It seemed like my Dad and BIL were together most of the party...

love those guys..so does Hotrod...

 

we have a tradition of me doing a photo shoot with Hotrod...

at a local park down town in our city...

I'm sure you might remember this spot...

I did one with my Mom and Aunts here too....

 

I love this shot...

a typical 3 year old boy....

with Mommy wondering what the heck are you up to now...

I don't have a lot of the photos I can share...

you can never be to careful these days...

of course you know I will find a few to share...



Hotrods party was a hit...

My BIL and Dad both hitching up their britches at the same time...
now how often can you get that on camera...

we sang him Happy Birthday...

his Mommy had to re-light it a few times...

he is loaded up on Hot wheels...

I had an awesome weekend...

Hotrod had his first dance recital...

he stole the show...
he had people stopping him...
telling him what a good job he did...
my daughter tapped....
I always love seeing her perform...
her dance partner for years Ben was tapping next to her...
I did a lot of crying at the recital...
first show for Hotrod and Kylie...
last show our Elisa....
seeing my daughter and Ben as adults...
remembering when they were 5 &6 dancing together....
seeing the progress made by my daughters students...
a happy emotional weekend....

This is been a whirl wind day....

the First day of Summer...

my most favorite time of the year...

I know I live in Texas....and it's HOT...

and our business is super busy...

but I love all that summer stands for...

flip flops...snow cones...veggies from the garden..

lake time....sprinkle parks...petting zoos....

longer days....

 



 Hotrod and I have been to the petting zoo 3 times this week...

he's getting to be on a first name basis with the animals...

and the people that work there...

Today we got licked by a cow...Big Red...

I've never been licked by a cow...

his tongue was like sand paper...

The bunnies...and Little Jack the donkey...

are Hotrods favorites...

I'm still only take photos with my phone...

not bringing my big camera along...

this is our time to connect with the animals...

we only spend about 30 minutes...

but that satisfies him...

and he takes a good nap when we get back...

which gives Oma time to get office work done...

 

It is a big weekend around here...

Dance Recital....2 shows...

Hotrods 3rd Bday party....

a photo shoot with our beautiful Dancer Elisa...

she goes off to college this fall...

so happy she will still be in the area...

I feel like she's one of my own...

 painting is still one of Hotrods favorite things to do....

he is also learning to use scissors...

I read that cutting playdoh and straws is a great way to work

on their skills...so we are going to give it a whirl...

he tends to use his left hand more with the scissors...

right now he uses both hands to do things...

and seems to be as strong with both hands...

 here is one of our crafts from last week...

we used a T P roll...

Hotrod smeared peanut butter on it...

rolled it in bird seed...

I think he had as much on him...as the roll got...

then we tied it to the tree with yarn...

one of the baby squirrels went to town on the one

we put on the pecan tree...

this one we hung from the clothes line...

the little sparrows have been eating it...

 we have sunflowers...

they are getting taller every day...

I love sunflowers...

 our squash and cucumbers are busting at the seams...

we are trying to keep them contained...

but they have different ideas....

 these are the Zinnias Hotrod and I planted...

from seed in the old wheel barrow....

 

these are the ones we planted in a pot....

Today I surprised Hotrod...

I took him to the petting zoo...for the first time this summer...

I didn't take the camera...I just wanted him to have fun...

and I knew we couldn't stay long...

I did take some photos with my cell phone...

when we left I asked him his favorite animal...

the rabbit won...he had so much fun petting one...

second was the donkey...he stood and pat it for a long time..

the donkey's name was Little Jack...

he enjoyed the petting also...

it is about a mile from my house...

we will be visiting more....
