February 2, 1914 an amazing woman was born...
My Nana...my ladybug...
the inspiration for my blog....
she would have been 98 today....

I have so many fond memories of my Nana...
she was a simple...elegant...loving...christian woman...
she married young...had 10 children...
8 survived...she lost her husband when her last child
was a baby....she kept her family together...
moved from the farm to the big city...
she always put her family first...
as kids they probably didn't think so....
she worked long hours...then came home...
put in more time...
she did without to keep her kids fed and clothed...
as adults I think they realized what she really did for them...
My Nana and I had a special connection...
she will always be in my heart...
she quilted...sewed..cooked...baked...
listened..laughed...enjoyed life...
To this day I still remember her smell...
I remember the feel of her hug...
we spent hours on the phone every week...
while I set in carpool line picking up my daughter from school...
I would call her...and we would catch up on what she was up to...
catch her up on what was going on in my life...
she was my ladybug...
my DIL had a ladybug land on her dress the day she
married my son...when I'm feeling tired or low...
a ladybug will pop up...either real or on a product...
I always smile...Nana's there...
watching over us...

I showed little britches her photo one day...
told him that was Nana...
everyday he looks at the photo..
Nana...Nana...
I hope I can be the Oma to him...
that Nana was to me....
I love you Nana...I miss you terribly...
Happy Birthday Ladybug....

this is a wonderful tribute to your Nana and sweet and touching to the heart. I think you already are the oma that nana was to you to LB. I named my grandmother Gonnie when i was 2, the name stuck and the only name on her gravestone is Gonnie and the dates. even the people at the hospital where she worked called her Gonnie. thanks for the memories.

What a sweet tribute to your Nana sweet Deb. I feel quite sure your Nana would be very pleased with your relationship with Little Britches and he will always love his Oma just as you did your Nana. I loved reading about the lady bugs. Your Nana is for sure watching over you all. Hugs

What a lovely lady...

Wondering, if she was called your "Nana," why you are not called "Nana" also? Just wondering......
