I'm stepping up on my soap box today...
just a little bit...
when did chicken nuggets become healthier than a turkey sandwich?
why would you take a lunch away from a child?
make them eat a different lunch???
then charge the parents for that lunch ???
when they were sent with a perfectly normal lunch??
a turkey sandwich...chips...fruit???
just asking???
I think the food police are a little out of control...
don't get me wrong...
I believe in healthy eating...
I know we have a obesity problem with our children...
as well as our adults...
but this is crossing the line...
moderation is the key....
portion size is important....
I don't think she had a family size bag of chips...
a small portion is okay....
when I was in school we were taught about good nutrition...
we were taught about the pyramid...
eating fruits and veggies...
small amounts of treats....
we had recess...we had P. E.
we played outside...we played chase...tag...
rode our bikes...skated....
maybe we need to go back to the basics...
stop policing...start teaching....
Today I'm joining This or That Thursday

this is news to me, i don't watch the news so missed this one. i so agree with you on this. here is my story. i am fat my brother is thin, we ate the same foods in the same house. took the same lunches. my sons, one is overweight, he loved veggies and anything i put in front of him, my other son is skinny as a rail, he would eat nothing but peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, for 16 years it was rare for him to et anything but sandwiches, nary a veggie passed his lips, he is the thin one and healthy as a horse. each body processes foods different and what makes some fat does not on others. i am very much against more polcing, what next? telling us we can only have one child? no girls allowed?
I heard about this also and agree with you 100%. Taking that child's lunch away was just insane.
you are preaching to the choir...LOL
Our school, ( also in Texas) claims that ketchup is a vegetable....
they only get 15 minutes of recess, PE three days a week for 20 minutes, and my kids have no one ot play with when they are outside, cause the other kids are playing video games indoors..and we wonder about obeseity....
you too, saw that outrageous story, on tv. We saw it on Megyn's news show, between 1-2pm.
food police!!!!! for a little girl!!! out of control!!!!!!!!
ding-dang *MzzzzzzzBO* and her ding-dang "foodie" ideas. Yish...

Amen! All I can say is we need LESS government! Not more. We are turning into a police state. As bad as I hate to listen to the news because it is so depressing, this is actually the time to stay on top of what is going on! Thanks for posting this. Loved the pictures, by the way. I do NOT do anything political on my blog, but I was so glad to see this! :-) I honestly have been tempted more than once to start a new, political-only blog, you know, in addition to my happy, lovely, let's enjoy life blogs BUT...I guess I'm a chicken nugget myself.
You are so right Deb and we are all outraged at someone taking away this childs lunch and gave them nuggets. That was so stupid and unnecessary.
I didn't know about a 'this n that thursday. I am full of this n that. I'm going to check it out.
I just saw the story Deb and the principle claims that they did not take the lunch away they only asked the girl to go through the line to get a milk.
Anyway, that is what I heard just a bit ago.
I sometimes think that things get overblown.
I know they do at the school my hubby teaches at.
I always enjoy seeing your pics, your getting to be quite a photographer!
Cindy
Whatever the full story is I don't think the school has a right to change a lunch sent from home.
Stop policing...start teaching is a great motto.
I haven't heard this story, yet! However, the lunch didn't need to be taken away, obviously.
I didn't hear about this one but I don't watch the news either so that may be why. Sounds horrible.
Yes, PE was the best and should be in the daily line up at all schools through HS.
That sounds crazy! I'd rather a turkey sandwich. Your photos are lovely today!
