I had a scarey experience today....

I had to go pick up a check from a customer...

I had never been there before...

I passed it up the first time...

it was on a one way street...

so I had to go several blocks around...

to get back to the right spot...

 when I found the place...

I parked...went to the building...

opened the front door partially...

I saw several workers starting to pull up a big slab...

it was a good 4 x 6 piece of tile/cement or marble...

with chains....I stayed outside the door...

with the door cracked open...

watching them pull it up...

they were pulling it up 2 or three stories...

I was waiting to hear the all clear from the guys...

when all of a sudden... it came crashing down...

hit the floor...broke in to big pieces...

some of them even hit the door...

it traveled fast...

it was loud....

falling just inches away from where I was standing...

the guys came running down the stairs....

one guy grabbed me...he was so happy I was alive...

he almost gave me whiplash...

they just knew I had been hit...

it didn't really sink in till I was driving home...

how fortunate I was to have missed the building the first time...

my Angels were working over time...

Thank you Lord...

 



 My prayers go out to the people in the path of Sandy...

stay safe...

 today I was telling Hotrod that Nanny's (my Mom's) birthday is on Sunday...that we are going to have a party for her...

I asked him what we should do...

He said we need balloons...

he loves balloons...

I said what else do we need...

He said a BIG cake...

what else...that's all....

I like the way this boy thinks....

 they picked up my daughters car today....

Hotrod was really upset by that....

he didn't like his Aunts car being taken away....

he has told everyone we see...that his Aunts car got smashed...

"That's not a good thing...but she's okay....that is a good thing"...

it is amazing the things they say....

I went to the gym tonight...

met with a friend from high school...

we had a nice walk on the treadmills...

a nice chat getting caught up...

I missed going for 2 weeks in a row...

life seems to take over sometimes...

well I tend to let life get in the way...

I tend to put everyone else ahead of myself...

or at least put my things on the back burner...

This weekend I realized...

I need to start putting working out as a priority...

if I'm not healthy...I won't be good to anyone else...

my goal is to go at least 3 or 4 times a week...

surely I can get 3 or 4 hours a week in...

I just have to do it...

put everyone else on hold...

I know they will survive without me...

 

I can't believe Halloween is on Wednesday...

this month has flown by....

Hotrod is very excited...

not about wearing a costume...

but the thought of candy...

he doesn't get it very often...

a lollie pop from the Doctor...

or a bite here an there...

Not from his Oma though...

so this will be a treat...



I've been missing in action...

a lot going on in my neck of the woods...

Thursday night I went to the viewing for Big Daddy...

Friday my daughter was headed to the funeral...

was in an auto accident....

a lady pulled out from a side rode right in front of her...

lucky my daughter is okay...

sore...bruised...sprained...but okay...

her car did not fair well...

 

Thank you lord for keeping her safe...

a car can be replaced...

it just so happened Hubby was in the office when she called...

and was able to rush to her side...

 



the tow truck driver was a hit with Hotrod...

he let him pull the lever to lower her car to the ground...

Hotrod spent the weekend with us...

so did Ginger...and Zane...

our daughter and Hatari spent the night friday night...

so we had 5 dogs...one daughter...one grandson...

and a partridge in a pear tree....

Zane is my DIL's mothers dog...they inherited him...

when her Mom passed away...

a cold front hit us on Thursday night....

we have been used to 80's...

it dropped to the 40's....

big change...

which added to our wonderful weekend...

Hubby built a fire in the firepit on Saturday night for Hotrod...

he thought it was cool...

for a few minutes....

he was more interested in the stars and the moon...

there was a nice breeze...so hung out a little laundry...

Hotrod was having a ball watching the line hop up and down...

I remember doing the same thing as a kid....

 

now that everyone has gone home...

it is so quiet...

a little time to get caught up on computer time...

get a little rest...

then start a new week....

Sending prayers out to everyone on the East Coast...

hope you are all safe....

 

 

 

golf...a gentlemen's game...

or so it has been called....

I'm not so sure it is anymore...

the respect isn't shown on the golf course like it used to be...

 



it seems to be a trend not to be gentlemenly..

is that a word...well...we will pretend it is...

what is happening to good manners...

being a gentlemen???

have you noticed the changes...

like when a man opens a door for you...

it surprises you...it is not a given any more...

bad language is not hushed or hidden anymore...

or appoligized for if a slip happens...

what happened to keeping a leash on your language...

especially around ladies and children...

now you hear the F word tossed around like nobodies business...

 



why are we so surprised when gentlemenliness is shown???

why is it that we are not surprised by ungentlemenliness??

I'm proud that my husband is a gentlemen...

(well out in public anyway....)

he opens door for ladies...

he shows respect for others...

he knows when to watch his language...

what not to talk about in mixed company...

Come on fellows....

let's bring back gentlemeness....

she ran a daycare at home for years...

she shaped a lot of children's lives...

 

Ramblings....

It was a feeding frenzy at the pond...

I wonder if they know something we don't...

we do have a cold blast coming this weekend...

we've been breaking records this week...

for our warm temps...

I'm not complaining a bit...I'm enjoying it...



This week I have felt like the ringmaster...

of a three ring circus...

or a dog chasing it's tail....

not sure which one...

it's so dark in the morning...

gets dark too early....

I'm a sunlight person...

need it on top of my head to charge my batteries...

fun times with my Hotrod this week...

his favorite question is "What's That?"

now I'm turning it on him...

I say I'm not sure...you tell me...

sometimes I wasn't even close to what he was talking about....they notice everything...

we went to the park this week...

climbed the big hill atleast 4 times...

he's like a little billy goat...

he can now start at the bottom

of the tunnel slide....

climb up it by himself...

then slide down...

 



I guess I need him to be my personal trainer...

you would think chasing around a 2 year old

would make you skinny...

so far...nope...must be the M thing....



This month is going by way to fast!!!!

How come the nights seems to go too fast too...

seems like I just lay my head to go to sleep...

the alarm is buzzing....

saying get up...

I received sad news earlier...

the owner of my daughters dance studio Dad passed away...

Big Daddy as he was called by everyone...

was such a nice man...

a little grumpy on the outside...

but a Teddy Bear on the inside...

he was always there for the Dance performances...

even joined in on occasion...

my favorites were the Father Daughter dance he did...

on the 25th anniversary of the studio...

and the reading of the Grinch Stole Christmas...

at the Christmas performances...

Rest In Peace Big Daddy....

you will be missed....



we received news this weekend that a childhood friend

of Hubby Mom is not doing well..hospice is with her now...

She was an important part of Hubbies life in middle school...

and high school...since he lost his Mom when he was 9...

she was a woman figure in his life...

It is so hard seeing friends loose their parents...

really makes me appreciate that I still have both of mine...

I love you MOM....I love you DAD....

 



having Hotrod around sure helps...

seeing the newness of life and experiences...

the joy...the wonder of it all...

too bad we don't keep these traits with us all our life...

we tend to get jaded for a lot of our lives...

then when we get older....it tends to come back...

atleast for me it has...

I remind myself everyday... that each day is a blessing...

 



oh don't get me wrong...I still get caught up in the hustle...bustle..

of everyday craziness....but some little blonde haired boy...

brings me back...a smile...a hug...a What's that???

or Oma I love you....

now if that won't melt your heart I don't know what will...

Pumpkin Patch 2

 Hotrod had his first experience in a bounce house...

I'm not a fan of them...but I'm the Oma...

this one was for 4 year olds and younger...

 

 he is having a high old time....

 

 Pawpaw is peaking in...checking on his boy...

hey Pawpaw went want this teepee in the back yard...

so many fun ideas...

places to climb and hide...

 

the hayride...

it was a fun trip around the pumpkin patch...

the dogs had a good time too...

 

 



 we got up bright and early...

headed to the pumpkin patch...

along with hundreds of others...

 

my daughter brought Hatari...

yep...our little ladybug....

she's quite the trouper...



Pawpaw found a good seat...

while we went on the hayride...

 my son guarded the wagon....

 

 as promised...I handed over the camera...

 Hatari is the perfect dog...

she doesn't mind costumes...

she likes going...

she doesn't mind my camera...

 

Hotrod loved the pumpkins...

 there were lots of pumpkins...

lot's of cameras...
