 1.  I love watermelon...especially seedless watermelon...

when I was little I didn't want to eat it...I thought the seeds

were bugs...My Mom would have to pull out the seeds...
sweet Mom...

2. I decided to have a little fun with PicMonkey....

3.  My Mom's family is having a reunion this weekend...

I won't be able to go...helping Hotrod and family move...

to their new Home....last year I took some of my photos...

framed them for the silent auction....I was pleased that they

sold quickly...before I found out about the move...I had

decided I would do that again this year...

when I found out I couldn't go...I thought I would go

ahead and send some with my Mom...I started looking

through my thousands upon thousands of photos..

trying to pick out a few that I thought everyone would like...

I was over whelmed....so told my Mom I wouldn't be sending any...

she said your photos are beautiful...just randomly pick a few...

so I just bit the bullet...picked out a few...

they are being printed at Walgreens...

why are we so critical of our work?



4.  Today is the first birthday of Linda at Linda's life journey

Quad grand kiddos....what an amazing year it has been

for her family....Happy Birthday Harrison...Trysten...
Kailey...and Logan....
they all live in my town....



 5.  I'm ready for a weekend getaway....either at the cabin...
or camping...I'm thinking the end of June we maybe able
to sneak away....Hubby and I need a little R & R....

we have been to the farm several times...

this was my Mom's first visit...

she really enjoyed it...

she said it reminded her of growing up on the farm...

 

 

 Hotrod and I did a little Science Experiment today....

It was a crazy day today...

I was woke up at 4:15 this morning...my phone ringing...

Our employee was calling in to let us know...

 he would not be in again today....

I forgot an 8:45 appointment....

Hotrod answered the business phone today...

I was in the other room getting something...

I heard the phone ringing...then it stopped...

I heard him answer "West Mechanical"

then he laid the phone down...

thank goodness we have understanding customers...



I had to vacuum up some water with a wet vac...

I was vacuuming....then it started spraying water...

so I shut it off...then water shot out from the tank...

the floor was flooded...I had to keep Hotrod and the dogs back...

grabbing a mop...towels etc....

finally got a hold of hubby....

he asked if the cap was on it...

what cap???I asked....

a red cap....well there was no cap on the back...

it was down in a storage compartment...

put it back on...then went to sucking up water...

it took 30 minutes to clean it up....

fans blowing to try to dry it faster...

thank goodness for cement floors...

what a day....
I am thankful for all the wonderful things I do have..
an awesome Hubby....great kids...adorable Hotrod...
amazing Mom and Dad...
sweet furbabies...
good friends...
real world and blogging....
that's what keeps you going....
when times get crazy....
 



 we had thunder storms again yesterday afternoon and evening...

a welcome prayer for Texas...

the lawn guys came yesterday before it all hit...

so my yard got a nice haircut...

then a nice shower...

I talked to the owner Mr. C.....

his business is doing great with the weather we have had...

 

 yesterday Hotrod and I were headed out the door...

we heard a lot of squacking...and carrying on...

"What is that noise Oma"

it was a bit of a disagreement...

between a blue jay...and a couple of mocking birds...

we have a mocking bird nest in one of our trees along the fence...

I'm guessing the blue jay got a little to close...

well blue jays are stubborn....

mocking birds are stubborn....

there was a lot of fussing going on...

of course I didn't have my camera with me...

 

 the mocking birds are busy ones...

they have been chasing the dogs a bit too...

just letting them know to stay clear of that area...

I'm anxious to see the baby birds when they take off...

we have a lot of Starling nests to...

it is a constant flight of bug carrying birds...

to feed the babies...and the babies are constantly crying...

isn't Mother Nature grand....

This bird was at the lake....

I'm not sure what it is...

But I bet Texwis Girl will know...

she is our Texas Bird expert...

stop in...she has a pond at her place
that attracts a lot of water fowl...
bird feeders that attract beautiful birds...
and a few misfit Tree Rats....
her dogs and horses are beautiful....
you won't regret stopping by...



 my son was out in the lake for a swim...

he got tangled up in something...

he pulled on the line...

a fish was attached to fishing line...

it had a hook in its mouth....

 he hollered at us...I caught a fish....

he pulled the hook out of it's mouth...

it had a decaying minnow on it...

when we saw the hook and weight..

we realized...it was one of my hubbies...

he ties his different than most...

evidently this poor fish is one that broke the line...

a couple of weeks ago...

 

 Hotrod had to see it...

then son let it go...

hopefully to grow bigger and old...

lucky fish...

can't believe it is hump day already.....

I feel so behind...it's amazing how one day off...

can throw you so far behind...

 



 it was a perfect day for a picnic...

it wasn't too hot....the wind was good...

most of the time...of course until we sat down to eat...

then it blew like crazy....

 

 Rooster was so happy to get to go to the lake...

he had to be a little more restricted...

there were lot's of folks and dogs there...

 

 Hotrod could not wait to get in the water...

I tell you kiddos are tough...

that water was cold....but it didn't slow him down....

 my Mom was enjoying getting caught up with her grandson...

my daughter wasn't able to join us...

we sure missed her and Hatari....

 

the phone never stops....even on holidays....

so happy I kept my old phone....it is coming in handy...

until my new one comes in...

we had a nice day at the lake...

hotdogs...hamburgers...water melon....

then a nice nap when we got home....

just what we needed....it's gonna be a busy week...

the big move starts....the painters painted....

tonight they will clean....

then moving will begin....

hoping Hotrod adjusts well to the new house....

 Thursday night I got a message from Hubby's cousin...

he was going to be in Caddo Mills Saturday night...

test racing his truck....would we like to come...

Hubby hasn't seen his cousin in years....

I keep up with Hubby's cousins on face book...

well it worked out we could go...

 

 so could two other cousins and Hubby's brother....

the weather was great for racing...

not too hot...

Can you tell they are related...

 

 this is his Cousins truck...his son is the driver...

his son is the same age as our son...

first time to meet him....

 

 they are working the bugs out of it....

getting ready for racing season....

much discussion about what needed to be done...

if something needed to be tweaked or if it was good..

the one in the middle is Hubby's cousin....

it is amazing how similar mannerisms the cousins all share...

even when they haven't seen each other for years....

this is the moon we saw last night...

I should have known...

we were half way home last night...

when suddenly I realized....

my phone was missing...

I searched the truck over...

had a panic attack...it was too late to go back to the track...

they were already closed...

when I got home I tried calling my phone...

thinking a good person may have found it...

nope....so I suspended my service...

so no one could rack any Internet bills or extra charges...

I tried calling the track...no luck...

so today...I had to go get another phone...

there was a good 30 minute wait at the store...

I had my old phone...so I got a new Sims card...

put it in my old phone..until they send out my replacement...

I'm glad I had the insurance...but it still cost a pretty penny...

I went 12 hours without my phone...

it was hard...I'm used to checking my emails...

checking Facebook...checking blogger...all from my phone...

my family contacts me through text...

thank goodness the photos I have on it...were synced...

hopefully I won't loose all my phone numbers when I change over...I did sync my phone recently...

keeping my fingers crossed...

Hubby and I slept in today...8:00 for me...that is a rarity...

we are going to see Hangover 3 tonight...

we haven't been to the movies in forever...

 



Random Five Friday

 Today I'm joining Nancy with A Rural Journal

for Random Five Friday....

so here goes....

 1.  growing up I was really shy...I felt more comfortable

with adults....instead of kids my own age....but I was

always watching out for younger kids...I was a little

mother hen making sure everyone was in the right place...

when I met my hubby...he got me over my shyness...

he never met a stranger...and never does to this day...

2.  I never learned to swim...I like water...I'm not really afraid of water...I just don't want to put my head under water...I had

a bad experience when I was five...at Redcross swimming lessons...

the instructor shoved my head under water....I came up choking...

and crying...she's lucky my Mom didn't drown her...my Mom

had quite the temper in those days...my kids never knew I couldn't

swim until they were older...I didn't want them to fear water...

 

3.  I learned to drive a stick shift in my early 20's...Hubby

bought me a little car from his brother...helped me put our 3 year old son's car seat in it....showed me the gears...and sent me

to drive it home...I had never driven a stick before...had my

baby in the back seat...but we took off...a lot of jerking...

a lot of car dying...a lot of restarting...a few tears...from

me not my son...but we made the 2 mile trip home all in one

piece....I'm amazed the clutch lasted...

 

4.  We are in the middle of potty training at our house

(Hotrod)...so there is much discussion about potty...

and the other business around here...I spend a lot of time sitting

in the bathroom floor while he does his business reading...making

quick runs to the potty...of course now he tells me...

Oma I need to potty...but we don't need to run...we've got time...

it's okay Oma...we don't need to run...

one nice thing about little boys...when you are outside playing...

you don't have to make a mad dash inside...if you know what I mean...boys (Men) just love the freedom of tinkling outside...

 

5.  I want to thank all the Military folks...the ones serving..

the ones who have served...the families and loved ones..

of these wonderful folks...without you...where would we be??

 Hotrod wanted to paint his house...

there has been a lot of talk about painting at his house...

(the new place....which he already knows the address)

so I said sure....

and we got some paint (water) and a paint brush...

he went to town painting his house....

 he was very serious about his painting...

he spent a good 45 minutes working on it...

making sure to get it all covered...

 

 we have been working on potty training...

he is doing really good...

he's finally liking his big boy underwear...

Oma finally found some he likes....

what better way to cool off...after all that painting....

we are trying to eat healthier around here...

less processed food...and more fresh...

today I made Hotrod a treat....

I cut up a banana into big chunks...

put them on Popsicle sticks...

I got fat free vanilla yogurt...I stirred in a bit of

cocoa ....dipped the bananas in it...

put on wax paper...then in the freezer...

when he got up from his nap...

he had a Popsicle....he loved it...

and it was healthy to boot...

you can add sprinkles or nuts before you freeze too...

we also love frozen grapes...



 my yellow squash is really growing this year....

I don't think last year ever got this big...

 my first tomato is getting bigger...

we are getting more blooms every day....

 Hotrod is always working on his car....

a boys work is never done....

 the sun was out ...it was a beautiful day here in Texas...

we started off cool....but warmed up quickly...

but not unbearable....

 the seeds that Hotrod and I planted are really growing...

on the left are Sunflowers...on the right are Zinnias...

Hotrod likes to measure them every day.....

 



 I've been in a funk lately....

do you ever have that happen....

where you just don't feel like yourself....

last week it happened to me....

I was having sinus issues....I just didn't feel up to par...

but it was more than that....

when I looked in the mirror....

I saw a tired old lady.....so I avoided the mirror...

then no matter what clothes I put on...

they didn't feel right...to tight...itchy...

to loose in one spot....the color felt yucky....

I was hot...I was cold....I was sneezing...

I was stopped up....I was weepy...I was ...

just not me.....no matter how hard I tried....
 

it wasn't an all day thing....it just kept creeping in on me....

I would try to distract myself....

back it would come....

Saturday morning I got up...started doing chores...

I was feeling a bit over whelmed by them all...

seems like I was behind on everything....

Hubby came in from working....said let's go to lunch....

a break would do me good...

so I had to get cleaned up...put on real clothes...

not work around the house clothes...

I got dressed....washed my face...brushed my hair...and teeth...

put on mascara....(hadn't had any on all week cause of the sneezing)

Hubby said...You sure look nice....

well let me tell you....that just made my day....

that one little sentence and a hug...

chased away the yuckies...

 



isn't it funny how we can get so down on ourselves...

and a look....a sentence...a hug from someone...

can just turn it all around....

a laugh from a little one....

or a big slobbery kiss from your fur babies...

can make all the difference in the world....



my thoughts and prayers go out to the folks in Oklahoma...

what a terrible thing to go through...

we are under warnings today here in Texas...

the schools have released early....so kids can get home...

so families can be together...

after the storms that have hit recently...

I think folks are taking warnings a bit more serious...

I'm disappointed I had to stop my squat challenge at 140 squats...

I pulled something in my hip stepping out of my truck...

it is better now...so I'm going to restart the challenge...

on June 1st....that is another reason I was in a funk...



we have a busy month and a half coming up...

Son and DIL closing on their house this week...

they will paint this weekend...then move the next...

I'm going to miss a family reunion I was looking forward to...

but...my kiddos come first....

the following week we have graduations to go to....

June we have my nieces wedding which is out of town...

Hotrod has his first dance recital....this will be my daughters

21st recital....Hotrod turns 3 in June....

lots of activities coming up....

The rain has started....looking dark outside...

winds up to 60 miles an hour headed our way...

have the TV on for up dates...

Stay safe everyone...

 I haven't flown the coop....

it was a busy weekend....

lot's of chores to do....

my sinus' have been bad...

have been battling a headache and earache...

 

 no fishing this weekend....

helped daughter move some big things...

she is almost moved out of her first apartment...

Hatari is trying to get used to the move...

she has more friends now....

a big Boxer and 3 cats....

 I just noticed on the calendar today....

next Monday is Memorial Day....

I thought it was another week away....

where has this month gone to????

It has heated up here in Texas...

which means we are super busy...

(which I am very thankful for)

Hotrod got his summer buzz hair cut...

makes him look too grown up...

Prayers to the folks in Oklahoma and Kansas....
